Absolutely. At one point in my life I was 390lbs. I'm healthy now but it was nightmarish and I'm phobic about backsliding. Refined sugar is a powerful drug, and it's abuse a social norm. Go to any soda fountain and count the varieties or diet soda vs regular. Lol, I drive 5 miles out of the way, past 4 other filling stations to go to one with Diet Dr Pepper  ;) Is it any wonder the nations health care bill is so obscene?

Yeah, I absolutely do. I was up to 250 back in January and at this point, I can't believe it got that bad. On my 5'6" frame, it was not pretty. Now I'm at 192 and still working on dropping the pounds, wearing size 33 jeans (I was a 40 in January), and getting rid of all my fat clothes. Yeah, I definitely worry about my weight, because I can't risk slipping again. It's too hard to lose it.

Yes I'm 130lbs or 59kgs in real numbers. I have been the same weight +/- a kilo since I was 18. I'm now 50+ (cough and splutter) I go to the gym 3 times a week, (as a girl nowadays BTW no one has said boo and I do the same machines etc as in the past).

OK, Am I little miss perfect? NO! I have high cholesterol and an erratic pulse.  I suppose if I didn't do what I do I'd be worse off. I also look after my diet and don't smoke. Great :-\

However I see so many obese people of early age and just think they are gone in a few years. SO diet and excercise.

Hugs

Cindy: BTW Nero I thought you were doing weights?

Never worried about my weight because it never changed.  135ish for years on end.  Now though I think I am losing weight, but I'm not eating less or exercising more (or, ahem, at all), so I'm not sure whats going on.  Shape is getting more feminine but I dont want to be a stick figure!

at just over 200 lbs (95 kilograms), lacking in physical strength...
Yes..

>.< But I don't worry so much about the number that which is my weight..
I worry about the fat, fat distribution, lack of muscle weight, etc.. stuff like that..

I got solid bones and so I can't drop below 80 kilos without looking underweight..

I know teens aren't supposed to worry about their weight because they're still growing... But I do, because most of my excess weight is in my hips. :( I don't actively try to lose weight, but I do try to eat reasonable amounts and exercise at least a little.

I am 6'1" and weigh 165 pounds. My target weight is about 155. I currently have that evil middle age tummy pooching out just a tad and hate it. We all have our own things we obsess about. I refuse to go buy any dresses or skirts until my target is reached and then I will just force myself to stay in that dress size. About 4 months ago I was at 193, btw.

Oh my lord YES

Look at the picture!

I have been stuck at 260ish for some eight months now. I need at least 80-100 of that to go in the next couple of years!

The last time I weighted myself I was 140 lbs.  I am very thin, even though my Size 6 jeans are getting tight around the middle.  But everyone says I need to gain weight to get hip/boobs/butt.  But I loved the fact I was in size 6.  Now I am size 8.

Looking at the wrong side of the equation - its not the diet, or the food, its your lazy lifestyle.  If you went out and did four hours of real physical activity a day (which is the amount of time most people spend watching TV), you could probably eat the entire cheesecake and not gain weight.  Of course, people who are doing that kind of work/work-out day in and day out are not actually hungry enough to eat that much, buts that's a different deal.

Even an hour a day (or 20 minutes hard-core) will have a significant effect on your metabolism.

Your body is just going to convert all food to fat unless you give it a reason to turn it into fuel, or muscle.

Yeah I do. I got seriously sick when I was 10 and ever since (I also hit puberty that same year) I've put on weight. I'm only 5'2" and fluctuate between 275-295 :(  Before that I was skinny like every other kid.

"Yes, and I'm an androgyne/other"

When my dad was my age, he broke 200 pounds. The most I ever got to was 195.

I walk to work, and try to watch what I eat. But, I'm only holding between 190 and 195. I'd like to be about 170. That seems to be an attainable goal. So, it seems that the 40 minutes of walking (commuting) 5 times a week is helping me hold, but not loose. I'll need to add more exercise.

I can vouch for this. I quit low carbing for a while recently and everyone was shocked that I didn't "gain back all the weight" even though my diet included sugar and refined grains. I never stopped exercising, it's fun and feels good, why would I? I get kind of offended when people ask what I'm doing and get that knowing look in their eye when they hear low carb, like the 40 miles a week on foot were just incidental  ::)

My entire life I was "Blessed" with a freakishly fast metabolism, and it was sped up even more by how much more physical activity I did, gender repression nonsense in my night life, and the worst caffeine addiction known to humankind.

So I start HRT in hopes of it being a clean fresh start... To GAIN fat weight cause I looked like a methhead by that point... And it worked. But then, I recently found out that I probably have eosinophilic Esophagitis, a condition that would or could be the cause of me being allergic to more and more new things.

So to make a long story short. The list of foods I can consume without my esophagus attacking itself and in a painful 4 hours getting anaphylaxis basically.... Has been shrinking. One staple by another as long as a complex protein makes them up... And I NEED those

So I'm REALLY scared of this ruining me and taking away my femininity that just seemed to be working before... Like my dream of resetting and living a more, "Wholesome. Eating, sleeping, loving, sexual, social, art school" Life.

I lost 10 pounds. I'm so scared to lose more. I know some of it could have been muscle but my eating schedule is VERY sporadic now. It might slow the metabolism down a little yeah, but I've lost 10 and I'm thanking evil gods that I haven't lost my ass and breasts completely...

:(

So yeah. I freaking worry all the time.

As Tekla and Becca have said the equation is very simple.

energy in = energy out = no weight gain

change either side of the equation and weight changes.

Easy to say, difficult to achieve, for some.

I do feel so sorry for the morbidly obese. It must be a constant cycle of ups and downs.

This is true, but sometimes the "energy out" is not under our control.
Mum's got a thyroid problem, which she medicates, and if she allows herself to become "busy" during the holidays, then she's at risk of Loosing weight.
She's already a bit underweight.
