Today marked the last Thanksgiving as (femalename) for my stepdad's family. They're the half of the family that doesn't know of me being trans and haven't seen me in upward of 7 months...they flipped over my hair being chopped short, but as it's kinda poofy for a men's cut (see avatar...feel free to critique my hair, I'm BAD at deciding on hairstyles and look bad with a buzz) no one really made the connection I don't think.
This is the last holiday my voice will pass as female. I'm overjoyed about it, but a little sad, because that family is extremely conservative, backwater hillbilly in part...and I know that most of that family, especially since it's my stepfather's family and not related to me by blood, will just step away from me.
On a slightly funnier note...we were talking about how my cousins are growing up, and my one cousin is now 16 and somewhere along the line went from ultra-shy bookworm to bombshell social flower. I made the joke that her younger sister, now 6, is much more rowdy than her older sister was at her age, and my grandmother replies to my aunt, "She's just like (femalename) was. Just watch, she's going to turn out like (femalename) when she's older." Oh, if only they knew.
Anyway, happy Turkey Day guys!
