I was looking up places to buy Dr. Pepper down under, and I came across this story involving the ever charismatic Axl Rose, enjoy 

In a unique marketing strategy, Dr Pepper entered a dare of sorts between themselves and Guns N' Roses front man Axl Rose. They stated that if Axl Rose managed to release his new album, Chinese Democracy, in 2008, they would give everyone in America a free Dr Pepper. Chinese Democracy, which was in the works for fourteen years, was released on November 23, 2008.[23]

Dr Pepper put a coupon for a free can on its website, but, the website to download the coupon was inaccessible throughout most of the day.[24] In response to the difficulties, the option to phone in a request was made. After dialing 1-888-DRPEPPER the caller was greeted with an acknowledgment of the technical problems with the website and the caller was then allowed to enter their name, address, and email address to receive their free Dr Pepper. Due to the website issues, the offer was extended until 6 p.m. on November 24, 2008, yet several people still experienced problems registering.[25]

Axl Rose threatened to sue the soft drinks manufacturer for a public apology, and undisclosed damages, alleging that it failed to honor this promise. No suit was filed.

Really? Any luck? You're so thoughtful! Since I've been in Sydney I haven't seen diet DP in any of the big grocery chains here, and I've had to settle for Coke Zero to get my occasional soda fix. I drink plenty of healthy fruit and vegetable juice too as well as water (and they have some banana flavored milk here that's the bomb), but like Janet said I drink DP because I like it, and it's low on my personal list of things that will likely eventually kill me.

I did, for $2.50 a can or $20 for a 12 pack lol.

thanks! Actually 2.50 a can is really not much more than a coke costs here anyway. I found one place that explained they tried to market DP here but nobody liked it lol In the States my soda of choice is caffeine free diet DP but good luck finding that here. I could have some shipped but really I can live with Coke Zero just fine 

Lol... Axle Rose (that is his real name) and I got in a fight in high school  It didn't amount to much

He got kicked out of school for picking a fight on a daily basis with someone or other for a full semester

Maybe if I was a little more obnoxious I'd be a rock star
