What do all the code words (not sure what you would really call them lol) stand for:

I only know:
F2M - female to male
M2F - male to female

and then theres:
T - ??
HRT - ??

and all the other ones out there....

T = Testosterone
HRT = Hormone Replacement Therapy
SRS = Sex Reassignment Surgery
GRS = Gender Reassignment Surgery
FFS = Facial Feminization Surgery

I can't think of others right now.

As far as I know, "estrogen" is the US spelling and "oestrogen" is UK.

I guess you can feel free to call it "O" but I'm not sure anyone else would think you're referring to the hormone.

E is "street lingo" for Ecstasy, or XTC, some people say X. So is skittles, m&m's, smarties or any colored candy band you can think of. As E (as in xtc) can come in many colors, also with stamps/logos. Uh, without going into too much detail, logos is the brand and colors is what the MDMA is mixed with (if anything). So, usually someone would go for a, uh, purple playboy or a blue buddha, etc, etc. It varies from place to place, and the source, etc...

I mentioned that 'cause my Estrace pills (Yeah, my E as in Estrogen) kinda look like E (as in xtc) pillz, with the blue-ish color and logo on the front. I keep thinking it would be funny to sell my E as E... in my mind I keep seeing boys sprouting boobs that keep growing and growing. LOL Okay, it doesn't happen that way and if I were selling my estrogen for $10-$20 a pop, I'd probably get some really mean people chasing after me... "What, you said you wanted to buy some E, so I sold you E -- Estrogen! haha! That's what you wanted, E, right?" *evil grins*

Anyway, E is for Estrogen here, on the forum that is.

Or, perhaps, you could go for the more complicated and obscure "Œ" (the Latin ligature of OE). Just sayin'

AM - Augmentation Mammaplasty, same as BA but some doctors prefer AM

I actually went into the docs the other day and the nurse had no idea what GID was...and when I told her what it stood for she replied "I didn't think it was a DISORDER!" and seemed even more confused that it was in the DSM, saying she never thought of it as a mental problem.

Just an idea....but maybe form a list of the common stuff like this that comes around this forum, and put in the welcome section? I remember when I first got here too I was confused, and I kinda just pieced it together one at a time, and now I know all of the common shorthand here . But yeah, I think it might be helpful for a thread on this or something be made available for newcomers to Susan's

That's...  inherently Ableist in implication.  My best friend has a severe case of bipolar disorder -- it doesn't mean that there's anything morally wrong with her, it just means that there's something so different about how her brain functions that she needs medications to function to her greatest potential.  I have a sister with a "learning disorder" -- she can learn, just at different paces and under specific circumstances.  I have adult-type Attention Deficit Disorder, it just means that I have specific circumstances under which I can best function.

Claiming GID is not a "disorder" is intellectual dishonesty and ablism.  It's intellectial dishonesty because it ignores the fact that nearly everybody who has it has a specific relationship between gender identity and apparent physical sex ("they don't match"), and most people with this disorder require specific medications (Hormone Replacement Theraphy IS medication), and often other procedures to live to the best of their potential.  It's ablism because it perpetuates even casual discrimination against those with other disorders in that those doing it are often quite vehement that they "don't want to be associated with crazy people" (and yes, people on this very forum have said as much as that).  There is absolutely nothing morally wrong with having a disorder of any kind -- it just means that without specific accommodations, one's life is virtually "chaos and disorder".

Oops, I thought it was Gender Identity Dysphoria.   That is, my gender identity is dysphoric (is that a word?) with my anatomical sex.
