How many of you have had it?
Were you on T before you got it?
If so, for how long?
What influenced your final decision?
Who was your surgeon?
Did they do a good job?
How long take it take you to recover? Heal? Get rid of the scars/make them less visible?
If you've healed, how do you feel now compared to before? (More confident, more yourself, like to look in the mirror, etc.)
I can only imagine the feeling of just throwing on a tee shirt and running out the door. Not having to worry about a binder, or layers. Being able to be legally shirtless in public, and feel so comfortable about it. Being able to just lounge around in a muscle shirt. Or when its too hot, being able to just take your shirt off. Somethings I wouldn't take for granted.
Also, once you've had it and have healed, do you plan on working out so you get pecs OR do you want a lean flat look as oppsed to a body builder look?

For those of you who haven't had it, do you want it?
Why, or why not?

I've seen guys' pics, who came out really well, as if they didn't even have surgery. But I've seen guys that have had mishaps and the scars are visible, that its really noticeable. But most guys I've seen worked on getting pecs, and the bulky body builder look.

I haven't had it yet, I definitely want it. Even when I bind I have an odd looking barrel chest because the lumps of doom are huge. I'd give anything to be able to go around topless or wear tight shirts

I will definitely be getting top surgery as soon as I have the funds. Realistically I will probably be on T for about a year before I get it. I plan on using Dr.McGinn for my top surgery because that is who I am going to for hormones.

Really, I shouldn't be answering this because I haven't yet had top surgery. However, I feel the need to commiserate at the moment. It's been 3 1/2 years since I started binding, and I'd give anything to be able to get rid of the accursed things (binders and breasts) and be like any other guy. I'm hoping to go with Johnson or Garramone once I'm able to pay for top surgery, and hopefully that will be within the next year or two. I swear, if it goes any longer than that, I'll probably hack them off myself.

Getting it on December 28 w/ Dr Paul Costas in Concord MA!!! I'm super pumped.  I'll have been on T 7.5 months at that time.  Also I'm working out now as I was told to not work out for about 6 months after surgery.  I already wear pretty tight shirts but I can't wait to walk around shirtless  ;D  ;D

I haven't had it, but I'm hoping to get it from Dr. Medalie sometime next year. And let it be known, I WILL be wearing nothing but wifebeaters and going shirtless for a good year after that, even in winter...just because I can.

How many of you have had it?  Yes almost 1 yr ago

Were you on T before you got it?  Yes

If so, for how long? 6 months

What influenced your final decision?  Always hated the moobs, disliked looking at them in the mirror

Who was your surgeon?  Brownstein

Did they do a good job?  Yes

How long take it take you to recover?  2 weeks

Heal? Heal well?  Approx 1 month.

Get rid of the scars/make them less visible?  Still have scars but fading, likely will take another year to fade at least, if I had to guess

If you've healed, how do you feel now compared to before? (More confident, more yourself, like to look in the mirror, etc.)  Finally look normal and feel normal not having them there.  Huge relief to have them gone.

-- Yes, this, though I have yet to run around anywhere shirtless except the house.

Also, once you've had it and have healed, do you plan on working out so you get pecs OR do you want a lean flat look as oppsed to a body builder look?   I don't want pecs per se but do want better upper body definition.

Ditto! I always thought it was unfair that those with woman-bodies couldn't go topless.... and if they did they'd get arrested for indecent exposure (unless they're at a nudist colony!)

Lumps of doom.... heh - good one. Looks like we're in the same boat - i can't bind mine well either and i always look like i've got a uni-moob. I wear vests now and that helps a LOT. I'm hoping for surgery sometime before summer (though probably won't happen that soon...)

I agree, it isn't fair.

Yet on tv/movies, its okay to show that part and not consider it bad or whatever.

Well, its not like its ok in movies the same way its ok for men...when a woman goes topless in movies and tv it usually carries some sort of sexual connotation, you never see a woman in movies just bumming around the yard or fixing a car topless like you would a male actor.

True.... very true.

It also interesting how people react when it IS shown - my mom gets downright affronted (as in "how dare they show that!") for any gender while my dad ignores male nudity and focuses on female (which sets my mom off again.)

Then after they argue about it they turn to me like "OMFG my DAUGHTER (*cough, cough, grimace*) just saw NUDITY" never mind it wasn't even sexual based. Then they both get affronted when i calmly say "yeah... so? Nothing i haven't seen before!"

My house is like a zoo sometimes.... or maybe a circus!

Anyway, what's the general price range for top surgery and has anyone gotten insurance to cover it?
