Crazy painful idea

This is probably stupid of me for considering but at work yesterday I overheard a probably painful idea fromthe guys. A guy I work with yesterday and I were joking that we could make him look like a girl quite easily. He had a soft face and voice and all that. I made the comment that I was impressed that he never had a 5'oclock shadow by the end of the shift, which none of the other guys could do. (even after all my laser I have to thank makeup for that too)

Anyway one of the managers joins in and jokingly suggested he waxed his face. To the guys that seemed to be a big flinch of pain. If I still had that much hair growing on my face so would I. But after a year and a half of laser, and it going to be a while before I see electro to finish the job I had a big lightbulb go off over my head.

So before I try it though I was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation and done something like this. Yeah I know it would be painful, but I have much less hair on my face then I did a while ago. So it could work...or I could end up in blinding pain for nothing.*shrugs* ;)

You'd need to grow the hair out to at least 1/4" inch for it to work.

*shrugs* I get two days off in a row. If I just don't shave one day and do it the next night I could try it.

But has anyone actually tried doing this sort of thing before?

Have you ever waxed.  OMG  :o  I tweezered the upper lip.  Blinks back the tears still  And waxed the chest. Still screaming in pain  But the face?  Are you nuts or just want half your face gone?

Terra, maybe it is time for another appointment with your therapist.  Personally, I think you are muy loco en la cabeza.  ;D

The place where I get my hair and brows done has offered to do my face, specifically the upper lip. I'd do it in a heartbeat if it didn't have to grow out so long first, it takes like a week to get there and ugh. Prolly ought to go out for sure though, at least the first time because they usually have better stuff in the salons. Maybe wear a flu mask in, those are in style right now.

15 minutes of electrolysis for me is $40. She's got over 2 decades of experience and is very fast and doesn't mark up my skin. It takes a couple of sessions to find the right settings, but once you do it picks up fast. I know other places are cheaper, but I've seen what electrolysis can do to your skin if they are not properly trained and experienced.

If you still have dark hairs... unless they are thinner than paper, you need to do more laser. I did not want to keep spending money on laser, but I ended up doing several full face laser treatments at the electrolysis center because she pointed out that it would be a lot quicker and a lot less painful to make sure everything we can get with laser, is gotten with laser. The place I originally got my laser done had in the contract 75% off for 4 years after, and when I switched to this new place, because of my past history of laser, she gave me her "maintenance price" which was basically the same exact cost. You have some freedom to negotiate with these places, especially if they're franchised versus a huge chain.

Waxing can cause permanent damage to the hair follicle that makes electrolysis less effective. Plus waxing is like renting and electrolysis builds equity :v

...I wish I could take an SRS loan out on the equity i've spent on transition...

I have lost count of how many times I have had my face lasered. The upper lip has been lasered something like 18 times and my full face/neck has been lasered like 14. There hasn't been much benefit on my throat for some time, but I do it anyway to make sure that anything that might spring up gets zapped. And it's actually barely more expensive to treat full face + neck than to do upper lip + sideburns alone.

Also, on electrolysis, one your dark hairs are mostly gone, letting the blond hairs grow out a little to get zapped doesn't seem to affect passing too much. Plus you could, for example, shave everything down and let the goatee area grow out for a couple of days (or up to a week or two if you've been on hormones a long time) and treat it section by section.

The thing for me now is that my hair grows so slowly that I have to wait a long time after shaving to see what is even growing, so planning an electrolysis appointment can take the better part of a month and I want to get as much done as possible before FT.

Er yeah, so I tried the wax thing sort of -- I have these Sally Hansen strips that I got to see if they would work on the underarms (not really).  Tried it on the face... not really.  I also tried the epilator on the face (cheek area) -- worked, sort of.  Except it was way more painful than the legs because the hair is thicker, and there was no way I was bringing it anywhere near the chin/lip area.  I'm not trying to pass yet so it wasn't a problem growing it long enough to try it (I actually can't shave as often as I would like because it irritates my skin).

I've waxed and epilated my face several times, I don't have that many remaining hairs so it isn't really all that painful and goes much quicker than tweezing.

YMMV, but there are people as crazy as you are, Terra. :)

Someone here actually knows her.  I tweeds the upper lip, but I would never go though that.  I would have to be stoned out of my head.

That's actually interesting. I'm out of electro money until next month but that might be worthwhile to get through. It looks like it hurts yeah but it's over a lot faster than an electro face clearing lol.

She had REALLY pretty hands.

Wish I could do electro to finish up, but that has to wait until after I get my degree. Which soon est would be 2 years. But shaving is taking a toll on my face so i've been looking for an alternative to it. Thus waxing.

How long does it take your person to do a half thickness upper lip? I like the lady I have but sometimes I feel like she's lolligagging. With about 1/3 of it gone by laser, it took her just over two hours. I was baked on vicodins so I wasn't squirming and she was pleased with her progress. The nearest place besides her is 4 hours away in Pocatello, and I'm willing to make like a three day trip if necessary for a full clearing...but I have no idea what's fast and what's slow.
