I am not full time yet. Technically. Thankfully. My voice is dead.

I've got this stupid head cold that has nestled in my throat and it has lowered my voice down to lower than I used to talk as a boy. And I missed work today because I couldn't really function, but I've got to work the next 3 days. I have no pressing need to pass, technically, but I'm worried about the un-training that comes from a week or so of having a sick voice. My job involves talking, sometimes for very long times without a break.

I'm guessing the answer is just deal with it and try to resume normal habits afterward, since there doesn't seem to be any way to really clear your throat out of crap except for time and nature.

I was amused as hell when a hospital called today looking for my mother, and the lady on the line ma'amed me despite my congestion. She asked me to identify myself and I said I was the patient's daughter.  :) ... which is actually the first time I've ever used that word to refer to myself, despite a few other people having labeled me as such already.

Losing our voices suck... I've been losing it alot lately, but unfortunately, for you it quite affects your work :x
Have you tried drinking something to help up? Hot lemon tea with honey does miracles :P

Atleast you have good news which are that when you go full time you won't have much trouble passing <:

I didn't know what losing your voice really was until yesterday. I actually lost it completely. Instead of calling in like a few people I went to work and stocked freight for 4 hours until trying to talk made me almost throw up on my boss.

So much sicker today. At least I'm justified calling in the whole weekend but god, i wish i hadn't gotten sick to begin with. >< It's so expensive. Just losing time from work... blargh.

It happens, Autumn.  I take it you don't get sick time.  Rest, drink tea with honey, carry a pen and paper and don't talk:eusa_silenced: :eusa_doh:

Oh my husband used to just LOVE those rare times when I lost my voice! He got LOTS of mileage out of it. (I wonder if his shoulder is still black & blue from being punched? LOL!)

Yeah... surprisingly, no one has made any jokes about how I'm an even better woman since I can't talk.

I was really expecting that.
