I really need to be indenpdant with the injections (for work travel reasons), so please bare in mind I do them soley on my own. I am currently self injecting once every 10 days. I have been doing this fine for the past two months, but the last 2 times I have done it, it has hurt!
I inject into my buttock, with no worries. But the last two times, I have really felt the needle going in and my butt cheek has been sore for a few days afterwards.
Does anyone else get this? how do you work around it, or do you just grunt through it?

I've had a couple of injections that hurt--and I don't mean the first few times. I mean lately. I think that every once in a while, I'm a little too tense. Once, I think I was a little too far to the right, but tension seems to be the main factor for me. If I'm having a particularly worrisome week, I have to take a little extra effort to relax my body and my butt cheek. It seems to make a difference.

You've had two unpleasant injections in a row. This might be a pattern or it might not. It could be that your fat deposits are shifting around--away from the buttock area. Or it could be that you're under more stress than you were a few weeks ago. Or maybe you're so used to injecting now that you're not quite as careful as you were before. I suppose it's also possible that you've already built up a bit of scar tissue and had the misfortune of hitting it, but that's pure conjecture. I am not a medical professional.

Some guys like to inject right after they bathe because their muscles are more relaxed then. One guy I know puts on a jock strap before he injects because that apparently lifts up the muscle and makes for a painless injection.

If you are worried that the next shot will hurt, take extra steps to relax so that you don't make the pain a foregone conclusion.

I get the same thing. For like 5 or 6 weeks in a row, it hurt and bled. It's back to normal now though.

just as update guys, just did my next shot and had no issues with it :-) yay

I was nervous and it took me nearlly 2 hours to work around to do it again, but once I jabbed there was no pain or anything

I'm relieved. Sometimes you just have a couple of bad ones in a row. Statistically, it's not unlikely.

This is something I worry about when I eventually go onto T. I'm terrified of needles and I'm afraid I'll stand there forever with it in my hand and not be able to bring myself to do it.

I actually got really nervous my last one...I've never had one bleed on me before. I was in a rush and didnt pull back to check if I hit anything, so I spent the day worrying that I injected into a vein.

I didn't start out self-injecting; the nurse did my first half dozen shots. The fee was so low that I didn't mind. Then I said I wanted to poke myself, and she walked me through it. When it came time to actually put the needle in, I would have been mortified to hesitate in front of her, so I put it right in. I knew it probably wouldn't hurt anyway because hers had never hurt.

It was nice to have that knowledge.

From what I've heard, I think you would have known right away. But I was similarly spooked when I did my first injection all by myself with no nurse around.

I inject in my thigh.  The first time I did it was in my doctor's office.  I slowly inserted the needle and injected the serum.  He looked at me and said, "If you insert the needle more quickly it won't hurt as much."  I replied, "I didn't even feel it."

That was over two years ago.

Now I HATE doing injections and more and more they hurt.  Bleeding isn't a problem but I can feel every millimeter of the needle as it goes deeper into the muscle.

More and more I'm becoming convinced it's all in my head.  At first I couldn't wait for the results and injecting was supposed to put my transition into hyperdrive and subsequently my focus was on that rather than the needle being pushed into my leg.  Since hyperdrive didn't happen and now it's just maintenance, this is a chore.  I've always been a low maintenance person and one who likes to avoid pain.  So I think my negative attitude is part of the problem.

same here.  except im already on T.  it really is pretty much how you described too.  you just have to try to do it anyway.

I sometimes wonder if it's the needle batch too. Some batches of needles duller than usual?

Since I've heard such good things about injecting into the butt I've been trying it the last few weeks. Lately in the leg has been more painful than usual. They haven't hurt at all (probably because I have so much freakin fat in my butt). I wonder if my leg muscles were just getting tired and needed a break from poking. At least now I can rotate from both locations.

My Doc told me to try different sites, he said rotating between both butt cheeks and the leg will reduce scar tissue build up and things like that. I currently do all mine in the same spot into my butt, so if it gets to sore again Ill switch sides or try my leg
