hair length and wigs

I have been not going to the barber now for six or eight months, allowing my hair to grow out. I know that when I go full time (1-2 years away) HRT or not, my nasty ole' male pattern baldness will not be magically cured. Stopped perhaps, but never will it look female without artificial help. Thus enter the wig. So, how long should regular hair be under a wig? I assume I will either get a wig to match my color, or make mine and the wig color match what will look good for my advanced age.  :icon_cry2:
Considering the full-time wearing of a wig, and the need to ensure it's on there to stay, what natural hair length is best?

Hi

I know that the answer may seem obvious, but: Go to a wig shop. Best thing I did; I went as Cindy with a wig I had bought on line. As soon as I walked in the door they were so helpful. OK totally read but no embaressment. I was whisked away, given a coffee, long chat about colours and lengths, style. Life style, 24/7. How to care of stuff, including my hair. Talk about extensions, not possible for me sadly. Lots or trying on and discussions, what I wanted, what other staff members thought. It was an amazing and totally wonderful exprience. When I left, my make up was touched up. I felt a million dollars. Come back anytime, we will do the touch ups and styling,

I floated out and after remembered that these shops exist for girls who have no hair. Either because of chemotherapy, TG, accident, or whatever. They are used to it.

Feel safe. Enjoy.

BTW I got the impression that if I had gone in dressed as male it would have made no difference at all. But being female I was more comfortable and I think they were as well.

Really nice girl experience

if you are going to wear a wig full time you can have hair as short as possible...i did that for my wig years...now i'm fulltime and my own grew quite a bit and some hairtransplants covered the MPB so I'm fine except when the wind blows when I could really do with more transplants.
Men look nice with some hair so in your male roles you'll lok nicer with a nice bit of ahir..maybe 1 inch or therabouts?

My hair is about 6-8 inches long and I just brush it forward and then wear my wig.  I still have a problem with MPB.

It depends on whether you a full-time or part-time.  I wear a wig and simply zizz off what is left after mpb has had its way.
As you can see from my pic I prefer a shorter style. This is held in place with wig tape and can cope with strong wind etc.
