"I Wish I Was a Girl!" - A Day About Trans Kids

I love it when something in the Cosmos (wink wink), synchronicity or whatever you want to call it, happens to me repeatedly in a single day.   This time I kept falling right back into the theme of transgender children.

This evening, while finally putting my feet on my bed to relax, my wife and I watched a rerun of "My Name is Earl" that had us giggling because of the love/hate relationship between Earl Jehosophat Hickey and his ex-wife Joy Farrah Darville Hickey Turner.  (Yes, that's really their names!)  In this particular episode, Earl prevents Joy from ruining their son's fun at the birthday party of his friend.   In one scene, as Dennis the birthday boy is about to blow out the birthday candles surrounded by friends and family, the mother says, "Go ahead, make a wish and blow out the candles!"  Dennis' eyes light up and right before he blows he exclaims, "I WISH I WAS A GIRL!"  The camera follows Earl as he walks away but not before everyone around the child claps in celebration, seemingly unphased by his (or should I say 'HER') wish.
