On one little corner of the Internet recently, a firestorm brewed. And while one can say that same sentence for any hour of the day, any day of the week, just about anywhere in the digital realm, this one pointed the way to one of the great disunions of the larger LGBT community.

The Bilerico Project, which touts itself as "the web's largest LGBTQ group blog," added another regular contributor to its roster. That person was Ron Gold, a man who was at the forefront of the gay rights movement in the mid-1970s. Gold was involved with the National Gay Task Force, and helped to get homosexuality removed as a disorder from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association.
