Saskia

Hello Everyone

My name is Saskia, and I live (and work) in Europe. I'm middle aged now, but transitioned in my 20's. I had all my "medical corrections" done at this time too, so have enjoyed being the real me for a long time. I can't say I have any problems, as I have a great well paid managerial job for a US company and have lived in stealth almost as long as since I transitioned.
Not all good news though as most of the family rejected me but I guess alot of us have this same problem too.
Other than that life is good.
Best wishes to all
Saskia

Welcome to Susan's, Saskia.  :icon_flower:

Be sure to look under the Announcements heading.  There you will find the rules we live by in this little world of ours: "Site Terms of Service and Rules to Live By", "Standard Terms and Definitions", and "Post Ranks".  Look through the other stuff there, too, like "Age and the Forums".

I looked into transitioning in the early 80s but couldnt manage it.  I'd be interested in hearing more of your story.

Welcome, from across the water. :icon_wave:

Thank you Mija and Kate.
I do hope I can offer advice, it would be nice to do that. So just to add a little bit more, like a lot of us realised as a young child I was not quite normal but tried to cope with it. In my late teens and early 20's was frightfully shy and had few friends. I knew what I had to do but was afraid to get started. The last attempt at trying to be male was getting married, which was naturally a complete disaster and ended (thankfully) quickly after I came out to my then spouse. Once the secret was out I went full speed into it and originally tried to get my SRS paid for on the British NHS, but due to the way they treated patients back then I left and went down the private road and got my SRS done very quickly in London. After moving from the company I transitioned at where incidentally I'd had no problems, but just wanted to live and work where no one knew my past. I was able to do this and moved to Europe and I've been here ever since.
I have been very lucky in my life. I changed careers which has paid off hugely, but it's also taken a lot of hard work and determination. I hated trying to be something/someone I'm not and couldn't cope with it anymore. At the time I thought I should wait for my parents to pass away so they wouldn't have the worry, before I transitioned, but I'm so glad I didn't wait. Mom and Dad have been great with me and are proud of their daughters achievments. My sister and brothers - not so and I haven't seen any of them since I came out which has been hard.
Do I have any regrets ?
Yes only that I should've come out sooner than I did, but you can't turn back the clock.
Best wishes
Saskia
