Talk show host Jenny Jones has selected Houstonian Cristan Williams to receive a "Jenny's Heroes" grant. Williams, director of Transgender Foundation of America, requested $5,000 to expand the TG Center library with transgender biographies, medical journals, and other nonfiction books.

I know Cristan and this is very well deserved.  Unfortunately, right after the award was given, the TG Center was evicted from its home.  So now they are scrambling to find a new place.

Kristi, thank you for that update.  What a terrible situation! It sounds as if the Center has been mistreated by their former landlord, who evicted them with less than minimal warning, after a long period of escalating demands. The website of the Center's parent organization says that the Center now has a temporary location, but a permanent home won't be announced for months.

More about the situation can be read here:

It is indeed a long complicated story, and a very sad one about people who differ in trans-related things.  It is not merely an eviction, more of a parting of the ways which has saddened many of us.  That being said, let's hope the new location works out and/or a permanent home can soon be found.
