I worked RH long before the movie, the original London touring cast, it was pretty cool on stage.

OK, I'll be quiet, you know how much I hate to rock the boat.

But god was Tim Curry cute when he was about 20.  He was already getting a bit pudgy by the time they filmed it.

Johnny Depp in Ed Wood, and Depp in PotC comes pretty close to drag also.

His costumes were fru-fru (Keira Knightley's dresses were almost more masculine) , his gestures fey to the point of being camp - beyond camp really, and if they had put any more mascara on his eyes they would have been too heavy to even open.  I always liked the review that said Depp had changed "swashbuckler" to "swishbuckler."

Ma Vie En Rose is a very beautiful movie, the kind of movie they almost never make in Hollywood.

I haven't seen it in years.  But it is definitely one for the list.

:)     I think this would be considered mainstream, even tho it was
made for TV (CBS, 1986):  Second Serve, about the life of pro
tennis player and ophthalmic surgeon Renee Richards.  Vanessa Red-
grave did what I thought was an outstanding job of playing the main
character both as Richard Raskind (called Radley in the movie) and
Renee Richards after transition.

Has anyone seen it?

Bruno (now called The Dress Code) is great.

Better Than Chocolate, mostly a lesbian movie, had a strong TS character played very well by Peter Outerbridge.

Look up other roles he's played you'll be hard pressed to believe it's the same person.
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

Bruno is a charming little movie with some major acting power to it.  I ran it one day at work, and all these macho guys were cheering at the end.

It's a winner.

* - of course, most of us went to Catholic School, and have a deep seated hate of nuns.

Has anyone else here seen "I Want What I Want?"

I think that's the first one I ever saw.

I'm not sure if Belgian movies count as mainstream movies, but I would like to mention "Ma vie en rose" :)

I saw this thread and immediately thought of that movie. My favorite tg movie ever, even if I do cry for that poor child every time I watch it.

oh, and "The Crying Game" is also excellent.

I haven't heard of any of these on this page ^^^ :P
The other night I watched 'Soldier's Girl' with my mum, she recorded it off the TV. Wow actually pretty good..but yet just another sad ending. :S

Try Bruno, even the people I work with were cheering the ending.

But you see, TG people are supposed to be all sad, and pathetic, so happy endings don't work.

LOL..... Everyone has their moments, but I think most are looking for happiness

I do my best to be chipper even when things are not so great.

Sure, I feel a bit down at times, but I'm always looking for a way to create that happy ending

Maybe we should make a TG inspired movie complete with rock shows and all kinds of fun stuff

Yeah, but we're not talking about reality, we're talking about Hollywood, you know, the people who made Pretty Woman and told a generation of girls that the way you get the guy of your dreams is to spread your legs for cash across the Sunset Strip.

No one mentioned "normal"? Or doesn't that count since it was HBO?

I've been meaning to obtain a copy of that because i was told it was really good.

>_>

Thats the movie I saw when I was 12 or 13 and stayed with my parents our of curiosity and horror... I was catatonic, and it something about my mindset and that movie that made the prospect of chemical and social transition that much scarier to me. Maybe its cause I'm used to the actor being effing Cornwallis, and not MtF. DX

I'm not that stupid now, but at 13 I was a product of my environment, no matter how BS I sensed it to be.
