My one year anniversary of the RLE will be here in September.  I'd like to be able to get SRS done around that time but of course money is always the issue.  Does anyone know if it's possible/legal to raise it bit by bit from say the people area around me?  Of course I'd  have to be honest about exactly where it is going.  Heck if that were possible I'd even feel up to the task of starting a charitable grant organization for those in the same financial boat as I am.  Anyway let me know what you think.

I have ofttimes thought that I would want to set-up a charitable foundation to pay for deserving Transpeople.  But I have no idea on how to even begin.

That's a really good idea Janet.

There are already generous provisions in my will in that respect, and I've always said that if my film ever gets optioned I intend to make sure that at least some of the money earned from that goes in that direction one way or another.

But as to how one sets up a charity basically here in the UK you just register it with the charities commission and in the US I imagine there is a similar body.

You need to have some trustees to run it and a constitution but that's about it.
