So tonight after battling nerves and such for so long, I wrote a 5 page letter to my mom explaining to her everything and coming out to her. She took it so great! She said its just going to take her a little time to understand and accept the fact that her "daughter" is going to be her son. She said she'd always love me and that I always have made her proud and that'd never change. She's also going to help me talk to my dad!!! I FEEL SO RELIEVED. This coming from a strict, conservative, southern baptist, Southern Kentucky Mother :] AH! I cant express how overjoyed I am! I just had to share it with you guys! :D

Glad your mom was really cool about it. Here's hoping your dad will be too.
Don't be scared to fly alone, find a path that is your own
Love will open every door it's in your hands, the world is yours
Don't hold back and always know, all the answers will unfold
What are you waiting for, spread your wings and soar

Thanks guys! I really hope he does too. I just feel so much better now, like I'm not hiding anything from them.  My moms just worried that... the rest of my family isnt going to accept it at all and they are going to blame them saying they did something wrong as parents :/ which i reassured my mother that they did nothing wrong. -sighs-

Oh well, it is inevitable. Maybe with time they will come to see you as a sane, well-formed person. At least your closest family accepts you, that's great.

Thats wonderful.  Its realy scary but for those of us that are lucky enough to have wonderful accepting parents is such a massive relief.   :)

I'm glad it went well.  It's a funny thing.  So often you build up this horrible anxiety about coming out, and when you finally do it's not as big a deal as you expected.  Good luck talking with your dad.

Just be sure to have info available to give them if they start the blaming game, because nobody did anything wrong. You can't make your family learn or read about it, but when they're ready to learn (if ever) then it's there for them.

Stay on top of it though. Many people I know can still get major friction with parents regardless of a good coming out. Not trying to downplay your relief though. Congrats.

So my mom talked to my dad this morning while i was asleep when he came in from work, and he accepts as well, the only negative thing said so far is "in our mind you will always be "birthname"  but i think that will slowly change as soon as i get my name change in a week or 2. But I'm just glad they are open minded and still love me and such! :D Just proves how badly I underestimated my parents.

Awesome :) and it is good that she is worried, it means she somewhat understands you or fears for you (and herself).
