I remember when the hand-held calculator broke the $100 barrier.

Me too, I bought one for my dad for Xmas that year.  God I thought I was so cool for doing that.  When I went though his stuff after he died, he still had it, and the battery's were still fresh cause he kept on using it.  Made me cry.

I've got a slide rule.... and the batteries would be fresh in that too....except I still haven't found where to put them 

...and someone gave me a book with numbers,  instead of the useful "log table" they promised for my room at college..

lol!  I still use my slide rule in my classroom.  My students are fascinated by it.

I make sure to use it by the window so I can get the solar cells to power it.  Oh, wait a second...  I live in western NY!  There is no sun!  It's only a mythological object - a story passed on by people who come from out of state.  (whatever 'out of state' means...)

Great.. I now just need to wait for the Sun to rise as I am already "Out of State" 

... so any idea where to find some legs for my "log table"..I need somewhere to rest my cup of coffee .. 

...and on those little black 45rpm thingy's.. why did they make the holes in the middle over 1" diameter when the pin on my record player is only around 0.25"... they are a real bugger to centre-up....and I don't keep "spiders" or have a "Joke-box" ?

/we had 12 foot waves today, pretty rockin, expecting 30-35 foot waves on Wednesday, can't wait.

They are updating, 45 foot surf on Tuesday, I'll stay up on the cliffs, I think they are shutting down the beaches.
