I went last week to the doctor and he gave me approval and a prescription. Asked me questions and such, seems I knew more than most his patience, said my therapist did a good job. Kinda neat seems my therapist is pretty known over here in the GBLT community.

Only side effect i've seen so far is the more frequent urination, that is a pain at work :/ Other than that, though its not a side effect really, I feel like crying alot, then again I was like that before so cant really decide if its just me or the pills lol. Havent posted in a while, just feel kinda down for no reason really, so I figure maybe I'll post get some response, need some interaction I guess, been cooped up all day.

If your meds include spironolactone, the spiro will cause more frequent urination and lower blood pressure. Its primary use is/was as a diuretic for hypertension control. You may also find yourself craving salty things (dill pickles make a good snack) because of the sodium depletion and possibly some leg/foot cramps due to potassium depletion (bananas help).

Crying? That hit me early on with estrogen. Not a major thing for me, i.e., have only had 2 or 3 short crying jags when overwhelmed by too many extra volunteer jobs.

Enjoy!!

Yes, I am on spiro, and estrace, so I kind of expected to use the restroom more :P

Just got out of a hot bath, feel much better :D although I didn't have my book :/ *reading the twilight book, friends kept pestering me to*

I like salty things so I figured I just craved them naturally heh didn't know it could make me crave them.

I've always cried when I was mad or watching a movie/reading a book, so I wasn't really sure. I mean I didn't think the pills would effect you so fast, that's why I was curious.

Damn I love pickles, and pickled cabage, and olives, and capers and pickled onions and pickled herring  :icon_dribble:

Yeah, spiro makes you retain more potassium rather than lose it.

mmmm yummy yummy spiro and estrace. The only thing I hate is going to the bathroom 25 times a day.

I've only been on HRT for a few months and I was also rather surprised at how quickly it takes effect

My boobs have been feeling irritated for quite awhile soon after starting. Today I woke up to very sore angry boobies that don't like to touch anything
I made the mistake of bumping the left one, it's been very unforgiving all day  :P

Be sure to stay hydrated

do you dehydrate easy? Yeah Ive heard they can be sensitive, is there an average time before they start becoming sensitive?

Had to go get a pickle,  who of thought all it takes to get you in a good mood is a hot bath and a pickle lol :P

I find it pretty easy to get dehydrated on spiro, because I have a bad habit of drinking coffee all day which is yet another diuretic. So watch out for that one.

I never really thought about the salty food cravings, but now that I think about it I'm totally in agreement with this one. I've always liked salty snacks. But there's times now when it's not a craving, it's a need.

Also, I'm in the camp that says the crying comes from getting in touch with your real emotions without feeling the need to edit them through the "male expected behavior" filter. I don't see it as hormonal. But I have a good friend who tells me I just haven't hit the right experience to unlock the magic tears yet. We'll see. And so will you, I suppose.  ;)

I have never experienced any extra ordinary trips to the ladies room on spiro and I am a coffee addict.  I actually go more now than when I was taking spiro.

But the coffee never affects me, even with the sleep pattern.  Too many years drinking the black gold.

Estrogen is a total different story.  More emotional, boob pain, softer skin.

Congrats!

I'm not on spiro (I had SRS) but I still pee a lot. I'm a pee factory. But, a lot of girls are like that, too.

Mmmmmmmmm pickles!!!  You forgot my fave, pickled okra =P.

I don't feel like I'm any more emotional than before, but I don't really think that would have been humanly possible anyway.

Dill pickles, vanilla ice creme and hot fudge.  Nummy.

And NO I am not pregnant.  I just like, especial after my second ex and our second child.
