So yeah I wasnt sure where I should post this, I thought of the crossdress forums but I figure its more than just that so I guess I'll post it here.

I've been through college twice, once for 2 years associates, the other I didnt go very long, well nothing has worked out for me with the associates, anyways I looked into my local college and its cheap classes and I am going to get a different degree, something I like more.

Well, I just found out PE is a requirement :/ Kinda discourages me really considering I havent really had any guy clothes for some time now *I mean ANY under or outward wear.* So that discourages me with the thought of a guys locker room since they have me down as male and all. So I was curious anyone else have/had this problem? What did they do? My friend suggested to use a stall in the locker room, but if its anything like high school, well its a guys locker room and they liked to mess with people so yeah stalls are pretty useless.

I suppose I could just dress like a guy in the class but just kind of annoys me really, besides i'd have to go out and buy some boxers or something lol!

Well I'd check what kind of stuff qualifies as the PE requirement, I took jogging - no showers required, and my kid had to take a PE course, he took billiards, so I'm sure there are non-stripping/showing types of stuff.

This.  I opted to take a lecture health class that still met the requirements so that I could avoid that sort of thing.  My friends who didn't take the lecture went to their class in work out clothes and showered when they got to their dorms/home.  From my experience unless you play sports, they don't require you to change or shower in front of other students.

It probably isn't. My guess is it would be more like a public pool locker room. Still, if you're already living as a woman, I wouldn't suggest you set foot in a men's locker room.

Talk to an advisor. If there's nothing else, you could get some kind of independent study -- say, based on a course in yoga or weight training or whatever at a public rec center or private gym or something like that. Or you could just get the requirement waived. Colleges are mean bureaucratic machines, but you can often get them to break their own rules if you talk to the right person.

You're stuck in the nasty place between genders...but isn't there any elagl protection for you?

Over here in England as soon as we start transition and tell everyone we are immediatley protected from haraasment and discrimination.   Right now thet Gov't is studying a new law to allow full protection for anyone who is between genders such as CD/TV/ etc  But Govt is not happy due to possiblilities of crossdressed robbers or terrorists etc.

I talked to a friend, she told me theres an online course for PE I can take, IDK how that works but if I can i'll do that. If need be I will talk to the school councilor person and my therapist, sure they can work something out.

Does your college have an GLBT organization?  If so, try talking to them and see what can be done.  Certainly you aren't the onl one that has that problem.

We have a whole bunch of classes that don't require you to change in the locker rooms.

Juggling.  Canoeing.  Horseback riding.  Archery.  Curling.  That kind of stuff.  I don't know what your college offers, but look for unusual classes that count for PE credit.

I also suggest talking to someone about the locker room situation.  We have a womens center, and I went there.  I have a letter from the school basically that states I can use womens locker rooms and bathrooms.  I also had my gender changed at the school.  My school required a drivers license to change the gender.  In NYS, you can change your drivers license with a letter from a therapist.

Stuff to think about or look into.

Thanks for the responses, sorry I don't check in regularly heh.
hm I wonder what I could substitute PE with.
About the GLBT organization, I'm not sure, I've heard of them in schools, I think there may be one, there is one at the university but idk about the local college. My therapist works at the university as a psychologist and she started the GLBT, she invites her clients to come speak in her class. Her class is focused around the subject for sexual therapist students.

I would be amazed if your college/University is not willing to help arrange it in a way that helps you.  I am surprised that a college/Uni requires PE !!  As for locker rooms, if you are presenting as female then you should use the women's.  It can be done, I swim at our local public pools and use the women's locker room.  Yes, it requries some prep and being careful.  You also may want to check and see what laws exist in your state in terms of the recognition and protection of your rights as a transgendered person.  I'm in Iowa for example and my rights to use public facilities are protected.  Getting people to understand that can be daunting at times, but also educational for them.  Good luck !!

You can take yoga, martial arts, a global heath issues class ect. There are many classes that will give you the PE credit. Do more research. I took a Global Health Issues class in a class room with homework and everything for my PE requirement.
