A Tax Break Isn't Worth Having the Government Treat Being Trans as a Disease

When we hear about a court ruling, the first thing we pay attention to is who won. We care a lot more about the practical impact of a decision than we do about which legal arguments won over the judges. However, you need to take a closer look at those arguments if you care about what courts will do moving forward and how the public as a whole will feel about the issue. I applaud the result of the O'Donnabhain decision, but I'm really scared it will reinforce the idea that being trans is a disease to be treated with hormones and surgery. A tax break isn't worth that kind of stigma.

Not that I'm arguing, but can you describe why you believe, calling ->-bleeped-<- a disease is a stigma?

Perhaps.

I think the issue is important. I can see both sides at the moment but lack sufficient argument to for an opinion.

I hoped that others, with an opinion on this might contribute.

I do apologise though Natasha, if you felt I misunderstood your motive.

Because its a medical deduction, and you get to deduct money spend for treating sickness, not for money spend creating wellness.  Because it's in the DSM, it's treated as a 'cure'.  Though this has to be the first time I've ever heard of anyone NOT wanting a tax deduction.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
