I am an MTF but I would like to draw on the experience of those born with XX chromosomes.  I am pre-HRT but just started taking Avodart (dutasteride) 3 months ago for enlarged prostate and now my breasts are very tender.  Apparently this is one of the side effects of dutasteride.  Yesterday the shoulder belt in the car made me wince.

My question for those of you who grew natural breasts, is how much pain and tenderness was involved during puberty?  Did the tenderness go away as you got older or was it always there?  Was it a cyclical thing?

I am not sure what you meant be grew them naturally, but mine are all me ( no implants ).  And yes they were tender as they began to grow.  And be careful if you bump them. :icon_yikes:  You will find out why the girls in high school carried their books the way they did.

But now ( 22 Months ) they just get itchy every now and again, and it is a sign that they are growing again.  Just keep on itching, girls.  That's my girls!  :D

If it was at all physically painful the emotional discomfort of their existence either overpowered it to the point that thats all I felt, or has blocked their development out of my memory.

That being said I don't recall it being at all painful in that way, no.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Hi Jill,
I can't remember having any pain or tenderness at all. Now whether I did and just can't remember, I don't know. There was no tenderness as an adult, in any case. But each developing female is different, I assume.
But good luck with your new breasts.  :)

I tried to forget the whole devlopement thing  ::) actually I'm missing several years of my life, most of it early puberty.

But...my boob-things like to change size randomly (ok, with weight gain. DO NOT MAKE ME COME OUT OF MY OWN WORLD!). and it hurts/itches because your skin is stretching out and rips a little. Healing stuff itches for some reason.
But it goes away....eventually...

I didn't feel any tenderness except when I was on my period and it was only once and a while.

Am I the freak or are you all just forgetful?

I had tenderness and not around my periods. It's normal because your breasts are growing. It will of course stop, I assume once you stop growing. Now this really only happens around my monthly.

I've heard some other MTFs on here talking about how at some point you too will have a monthly, though more in the hormonal/chemical way minus the blood and such. So, maybe this means your breats will feel tender around that time?

It's all so interesting! Hope this helped you. It only created more questions for myself.  ::)  :)

The things have a life of their own. They'll ache, hurt, itch, swell, and tingle fairly randomly in response to hormonal shifts of any kind.

You're not a freak. When my breasts grew, they were ridiculously painful. It may have been because mine grew to a D cup in a short amount of time, but I definitely remember going through a lot of breast pain during puberty.

Aside from the horror of developing them I don't really remember much about it. I do remember the first time my Grandma took me to buy my first training bra. Terrible... and traumatic. :icon_no: I remember it like it was yesterday.

They were sore and tender but I don't remember itching. The soreness & tenderness must stop after they're done growing because mine haven't been sore or tender in a long, long time (except with swollen lymph nodes).

My nipples really hurt when my breasts started developing...
I dont even want to think about it..but yes it is normal.

They certainly didn't cause me any excruciating pain. Although randomly they decide to hurt and generally be sore for no apparent reason. They're already fully developed, never got too big. Just an A.

I had really tender breasts for a while.  I don't remember for how long, but there were times when I couldn't sleep comfortably on my stomach.  The pain does go away eventually.

No pain or tenderness of any sort, they were just one day all there. The only pain was from running and no bra for support. I never thought of binding back then.

Mine were quite tender as they started growing, but it subsided over time.

As Victoria Wood once said " I wanted lego and i got these" And yes they hurt at times

I recall first noticing a small coin-like lump under each nipple that consisted of slightly harder VERY TENDER tissue, This coin-like tissue never really hurt unless contact was made with them. They grew from noticing them to dime, .... quarter size and beyond until done growing. I ended up A or B, probably A. Now the pain from abrupt contact is far less severe as an adult however all the tissue gets tender monthly.

Good luck.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of people who've decided to forget a few details for sanity.
