Benny & Joon
I have an uncle who has a mental disability. Growing up semi-isolated, I found rather odd ways to sometimes entertain myself and others, or, atleast I had time then to make an original attempt at humor - so I can definately relate to the quirky, fun-loving and good hearted character that Johnny Depp played.
As far as Joon goes - I too am a creative, sensitive, and intelligent (not to brag) person. As young as I was when this movie came out, I was also a bit eclectic and stoic back then. So the movie really fit me at the time.
The Proposal
I mention it because although it was a very predictable movie I thought it was sweet. A bit unrealistic but a fanstasy filled with just the right amount of humor and romance for me.
It's a Boy Girl Thing
There are a lot of good movies listed in this thread. I like many of them, and added comments on two of them. This movie I have not seen mentioned yet though (I could be wrong). But I think it's definately worth mentioning.
I torrented this movie, being bored and just wanting to watch something entertaining. I was thinking it would have been a waste of time to watch, I hadn't ever heard of it.
I watched it with an open mind just hoping to be entertained. I was very surprised! I enjoyed this movie and think the acting in it is just short of brilliant. It's hilariously funny at times - some of the facial expressions Nell (Samaire Armstrong) makes had me rolling in tears! Kevin Zegers did a pretty good job too, with the script he had to work worth. It didn't win any awards but it is a light heated journey that left me smiling for days.
