Hi, I got a quote from my surgeon that a trach shave costs $2500 Canadian (about 2100 USD). Is that too much? He is the only surgeon in my area that does it, so I'm kinda stuck!

Thanks

For US/Canada that's pretty spot on.... Marcie Bowers and Christine McGinn both charge more than 2500... if my memory serves.

$3,800 USD (mcginn)

sounds like a good price, (it done in canada) even though tracheal cartilage shave isn't rocket science and is done under local anesthesia, I suppose if I can do it cheaper I should get a license to practice and not inflate forum replies with mindless banter. :P

I am lucky, my adam's apple is small and I doubt that it needs to be shaved.

Many genetic females have a pronounced adam's apple.   It is a bit of a myth that women don't have one.   Unless yours is huge, I would prioritise other work first,

Bowers lists hers at $4800 USD.  I'm getting it for less because it's a package deal with the GRS.

You want someone who knows what they are doing.  If done wrong you can have breathing problems or trouble speaking for the rest of your life. :(

Its usually cheaper when you have it done with GRS, I had a trach shave same time as my GRS, no long term effects, bit hoarse, like a sore throat, tiny scar, never notice it.
It maybe a myth that women don't have one, I hated having one and was glad to be rid of it, Im a woman who likes neck jewellery, a gold chain my Fiancé gave me, I feel more feminine without it, but thats just me.

60000 Thai Baht or $1764 USD from a respectable surgeon in Bangkok
Plane ticket about $1200 USD
I don't go until the end of March but I am feeling good about it.
It is only worth the trip if you include it with other stuff too.
Hotels and food are dirt cheap
They take care of all transportation to and from airport, hotel, hospital, clinic.
Price includes all hospital fees.
Long lead time to get in though, sometimes you can get lucky, but I had to wait 6 months for some FFS and adams apple shaving, I saved up for the boobies at the last minute and through them in as well.  I figure if I am going to spend 3 weeks there might as well get the boobies out of the way at the same time and save money.
I don't suggest this for anyone though, you have to have balls, literally to go to a foreign country and let them cut you up.  And I haven't done it yet, scared to death but I have heard only good things about this doctor.
