The trouble in the UK is that intersex like yourself are not covered by the gender recognition acts as such...bit of nastiness thanks to Stephen Whittle...so you may have trouble getting new passport or identity...I have friends with lots of other intersex conditions and they have problems in theory...but in prcatice they are allowed to chnage identities etc...and getting any necessary surgical treatmnet can be done just by quoting Human Rights Articles 8.

my insurance covered it, and the billing statement on their site says it cost 565 USD.  I don't know if this is typical or not, and I don't know if it varies based on what they're looking at.  For what it's worth, my testing actually discovered something that they weren't expecting, so there is some breadth in what they might see; they were looking for XXYY syndrome (a tetrasomy causing two X and two Y chromosomes,) and found something completely inconsistent with what my stats would suggest.  (e.g. people with XX are short, people wiith XXYY are very tall, and i'm ~6'5.)
