I've tried dying my peach fuzz, and mascara-ing it. Neither looked very realistic. Are there any good methods someone would reccomend?

It all depends on what it is you're going for. If you want insta-facial hair which won't seem realistic to people that see you on a regular basis I've got the perfect trick.

You will need crepe wool, sharp scissors, a brush (like a blush brush) and a glue. Some people say use spirit gum, I personally hate the way it feels and prefer using Fx Molding Wax. It's hair wax and works for styling my own hair and keeping the crepe wool on.

What I do is cut up the crepe wool very fine onto either a paper plate or a white piece of paper. I take a finger full of the wax on my fingers, rub it together to warm it up a little then wipe it evenly onto my face where I want the hair to be. I take the brush to pick up some of the hair and brush it over the wax until I like what's there.

My picture over on the side is using that method. It works alright in person if what you do works with your face shape.

I perform as a trans king, and I personally save my hair from haircuts or buy those hairties with hair on them...whatever they're called...that match my hair color. Then I take clippers and chop it up very, very fine, as fine as possible. Scissors will work too if  you do it fine enough. Then I use Got2BGlued or another hair glue, put that on my face where I want the facial hair to be, grab a pinch of hair in my hand and sort of blotch it on. Finish that off with a light spray of hair spray.

But in the past I've used Rogaine on my face then dyed what resulted with Just for Men's mustache dye. It looked real as anything, and soon as I save enough money for Rogaine again, that's what I'm doing again.

I had to do a search to see if you can get it in the UK, but after finding this I can see that won't be such a problem (link posted for anyone else wondering where to buy it here).

So what's the texture like? Does it feel like real stubble? Why do you have to dye it? I'm asking 'cause I already get a "mustache" of sorts when I don't trim it, although it's not the texture of stubble - wondering if this Rogaine would produce more of the same.

I read that a better alternative to spirit gum was something called stopple paste. I don't know how easy it is to get hold of though. Spirit gum tends to peel of the skin and leaves a shiny surface so it's probably not good if someone was looking quite closely at your face. I'm no expert though, I've never tried doing fake facial hair.

I've actually been using Rogaine for a couple weeks now. But I'm an impatient bastard. How long does it usually take for you to see results?

When I shaved it it felt just like stubble, maybe a little finer. I have naturally very fine hair though. I am still getting some very slow growth from using the Rogaine, which I quit using almost a year ago and the hair is very fine but when dyed looks like regular facial hair, not as thick and developed as an older man's but that's ok cause I'm only 19.

It took a couple months for me to get results. I'm impatient too..ADHD here..lol...right now I'm just urging the hair I have from before to grow in faster and I'm going to dye it soon as I can find some black hair dye for a buck. Then I won't need to put on my face for drag :D

Hmm... sounds like more of the same, then. Which is actually cool, 'cause although it doesn't feel like normal stubble, it's still fairly thick.

Did some fishing around, and found a few things that might help - especially the last one:

A couple of how-tos on applying facial hair
A site selling real hair pieces
A whole article on facial hair especially for FTMs ;D

i wish i had money to buy this:
http://www.japantrendshop.com/hair-contact-set-facial-hair-from-propia-p-291.html

what i actually do, though, is i use waterproof mascara, but not to actually brush it on the peach fuzz,,,,instead i mix it with moisturizer until it's grayish in color, then just smear it on my face - i used a picture of a guy of similar appearance to find out where a beard would naturally grow.
i only aim to create a rather subtle five-o-clock-shadow. it looks perfectly natural (no one ever notices it's not), it makes me pass anyplace anytime, and it stays on, doesnt smear.

regarding stopple paste and spirit gum: i used to be able to create a fairly authentic-looking beard using spirit gum...but the adhesive comes off real fast, and it's super itchy and sometimes looks shiny as someone mentioned already- stopple paste is not touch-proof! your bear will come right off if you touch it etc.

dying the peach fuzz: didnt work for me. i tried a bunch of products, most of which dyed my skin rather than those tiny hairs. eventually managed to actually dye the hair, but it hardly showed and i came to like the mascara method a lot better.

This is interesting as some do whatever they can to GET facial hair while others do whatever they can to STOP facial hair growing. So what about a swap  :P

I would guess that daily shaving without even seeing hair growth would help?
