I am new to Susan's Place, and I love it!  Have been doing a lot of reading and enjoy hearing about everyone's journey.

I did have a question that appies especially to this area.  Why does Susan's Place (of all places) only give you a choice of Male or Female for Gender when you fill out your profile??  As someone who identifys as Androgyne, I just left if blank....what else could I do?

Did anyone else notice this, and if so, how did you answer?

Thanks....Laurie
Ya put your right foot in.  You put your right foot out.  You put your right foot in and you shake it all about.  You do the Andro-gyney and you turn yourself around.  That's what it's all about.

Yes I was wondering that. I did notice at the bottom of the site it says Powered by SMF 1.1 RC3 with a link to the program Susan uses for this boards. I do believe Susan would have to modify that code in order to change those options, and probably every time there was an upgrade. Unless Susan is the one who made this program. It might be something everyone could email the creaters to add to the next forum upgrade, since we are probably one of the largest users of the board program.

Very good suggestion. I hope that Susan reads this, because I would like at least maybe a 2 or 3 more choices of: both, neither, and other gender maybe, or just maybe androgyne box option.

I picked the female icon though I dont think it describes me, I think I will remove it right now, though I feel 75% F 25% M.

Also I would like to welcome you out to Susan's LaurieO. You can give a formal introduction (for all transgendered) here https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/board,8.0.html telling a little about yourself. And you can give more information in the androgyne section like this post.

Welcome again, and this is a good question I hope susan reads.

It is a code thing. We've discussed it before and there isn't a fix at the moment. Best suggestion I can make is to not select a gender. We're limited by the code available to the forums unfortunately.

And welcome :)

I left it blank for the time being. If there was an option for neither or both, I'd have chosen that.

Looks like most androgynes are leaving it blank.

Hello all.

I believe that this very topic was raised last year and the reason that only two genders are offered is a result of the limitations of the software used to generate this site.  I'm not sure if this can be fixed but I'm sure that Susan will be in a better position to answer this more completely than I.

I agree that for a support site such as this there should be more options available, is it fixable?  I'm not sure.

I understand it is probably a limitation of the software...guess I chose the same as most other Androgynes and left it blank.  It just shows how society at large sees things in black and white (or maybe pink and blue??) when there are so many beautiful colors just waiting to be seen.

That last thing I would suggest is for Susan to have to modify the code...she probably spends all her spare time keeping things running and watching out for all of us already, and doing a wonderful job BTW, and this really is a little thing.  Susan, thank you so much for giving yourself to make this place a warm and happy home for so many of us.
