I started watching this show "Lost", thanks a lot Beth, and I'm totally hooked. It's alot like Battlestar Galactica but on an island and with cuter guys. Anyway tonight I watched an episode where the stranded survivors found a cache of food including candy bars, and the two people who ate them seemed to have onscreen orgasms.

So I made a pan of brownies. Ooooh that wasn't a good idea, being a low carber I've been in ketosis for over 60 days now, lol, what a headrush. It was just stupidity too, because I have an awesome recipe for no-carb fudge that is WAY better than those stupid brownies were, but what's done is done.

I swear sugar is a harder addiction to beat than nicotine or pills ever were. It's not a cool addiction either, there's no romanticism in being a chub. I look back on my pill addiction fondly, but I never look back on being fat and think "oh boy those were the good old days".

Anyway if you want to join my pity party theres brownies and Lost, come on over.

LMAO.. mmmm food sex.. :P

Last night I ate half a tub of icecream (what was I thinking? I know what I was thinking 'cookies'n'cream') needless to say the icecream hated on me a few hours later :S So what did I do this evening? Presumably after I learn my lesson? I finished the tub off. >_<
It's only a matter of time whether there will be a repeat of last night's performance :S
I'm going to lay down and watch a movie me thinks.. *takes a plate full of brownies on the way* ....what am I doing!!!!!  ::) *puts one or two brownies back*.
:P

White refined sugar is not a food, it's a drug.  And like all those other swell white drugs - crack, heroin, coke, meth - it's best you don't do it, and no good can come of it.  It's highly toxic, very addictive, and kills you in a very ugly way.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

Sigh.

Sugar is harmless. Completely, absolutely harmless. Every carbohydrate you eat will break down into exactly the same glucose as sugar will. Assuming you're not diabetic or eating so much sugar that you're not getting enough other food, the main way you can be harmed by sugar is if the sanctimonious Puritans manage to convince you that you should feel guilty for enjoying it. Guilt...now that's a harmful drug.

Well I'm feeling a lot better today, I went for a three hour walk and got rid of those empty calories and prolly got back in ketosis. If not tonight then definitely tomorrow.

As far as refined sugar goes, I tend to agree with Tekla. I actually worked in a sugar factory for a few years, it was a fascinating job. Billions of sugar beets were trucked in, washed, sliced, superheated and pressed a few times to get all the juice out of them. Then the juice was filtered, pressed again, and finally cooked in giant vats, where a special bacteria was introduced to crystalise the actual sugar. This is where the difference lies, the machinery in the factory did all the work the digestive tract would have done had we just eaten a sugar beet, so we get all the glucose and none of the metabolic expenditure.

Anyway the human body is not evolved to handle this concentration of glucose. It is evolved to live sucessfully on meat and dark green veggies, like the hunter-gatherers in our ancient history did. When the body is in ketosis it is handling fat and glucose differently, and things like atheroschelorisis and diabetes just don't happen.
For me the main proof that refined sugar is a drug is the way my body reacted when I quit eating it routinely. I still got enough glucose from things like cabbage and asparagus, but I craved the sugar. It's been worse, like I said, than pills or nicotine could ever have been.
