I talked with my therapist about hormones again today, and I'm on track to start in ~2 months.  The place where I go for therapy has it's own sort of process for this thing, where they have a Gender Team that meets every so often to discuss whether you get final approval for the hormones, and the first opening was in May.  I had talked with my therapist about it before, but we both agreed I wasn't quite ready for it then, but I've since 'come out' to my parents, as well as started electrolysis, among other smaller things, so now we're both agreed that I'm ready to start hormones in the near future.  I'm really excited, but I do still have some things to take care of in the mean time, like seeing the doctor again (who is on the gender team), and getting the blood tests done.

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Sounds like an intimidating process, but not a bad one. Congrats!

It sounds worse than it is!  They take a different approach than normal -- the question they ask isn't 'is so-and-so really trans?', but rather 'can so-and-so handle the stress that comes with taking steps towards transition?'  I don't know if I'm explaining it right.  Basically they try to act less as 'gatekeepers' and more to try to help each person figure out what's right for them.

I think that's good that they are to help you with the stress of transitioning. Transitioning is a huge change and process, so it's good to hear that you have that support. Good luck. :)

The gender team is classic S.O.C. stuff.
