Hi all,

Thanks for all your support and guidance over the last few weeks which was a very emotional time. My appeal to the NHS PCT over rejection of my funding for SRS was upheld and I now been given funding for my SRS surgery. I did pull out the big guns, but not sure what did the trick. Doesn't really matter who, what or why, just the fact that they have now granted me the funding.

Good result.

For some reason the often seem to do that. It's almost as if they want to test your resolve, which is stupid because I can't imagine tha many people would give up at that point...

but alls well that ends well.  :)

Congratulations Stardust!!!

Sometimes it seems like we are faced with a Sisyphean task and that we'll never get what we need.  But when we do finally succeed, it is so sweet!

Quick!  Get yourself scheduled before they have a chance to change their minds!  ;D

There has got to be some twist to that Irish blessing "... and may you be a half an hour in heaven before the devil knows you're dead" that could be applied here:  "... and may you be a half an hour in recovery before the NHS finds out you've left"  ...nah...

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Hi al James,

I was beginning to think the NHS stinks, lol. I'm not impressed how they handle requests for funding. In my second physiological opinion report I said I felt better but that was in the context of me living full time with anticipation of surgery this year but they took to me they could refuse my funding on the grounds that my GID had diminished some what with my successful real life test. Beggars belief to use that to refuse me. What the heck is a real life test for after all.

Anyway that's in the past and they were told it was unacceptable for a woman to life with ***** well you all know what I mean, lol. I did put it in the letter of complaint that I did not know of any woman that would be happy living with male parts down there, lol.

Hugs

Hi Stardust,

I'm so glad to hear things have worked out OK.. I haven't been around much for the last few weeks, so I didn't realise there had been a problem.   :icon_bunch:

I'm afraid that even with your latest battle, yous still seem to have achieved better treatment than most people report...so like Sandy says..get that appoinment confirmed ASAP... ;)

Congrats Stardust! :eusa_dance:

Just because we're women, doesn't mean we can be pushed around.  Good for you!

Really good new, Stardust.  Now if we only had the same kind of system here in the states.  But you go, Girl.   :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap: :eusa_clap:

Hi all,

Many thanks for all your replys. I now have to wait for my appointment to see the surgeon and they have told me it will be a four to six week wait. Seems like all we do sometimes is wait, lol.

Still its going to be this year now.

Hi all,

Just an update. Received my official letter stating that I am being funded for gender reassignment surgery and vaginoplasty so how cool is that. Going to phone the secretary of the surgeon on Monday and try and get an appointment for pre surgery consultation. Hope to have surgery either in July or August.
