Hi Guys,

I am preparing to go in front of the University Council at the University of Pennsylvania to urge them to cover trans related treatments, procedures and surgeries. I have a pretty good list for MtF but I don't know what FtM needs are.

If you have the time please help me build a list and average cost (in the US) for said procedure. HRT, top surgery, etc.

Thanks for your time!

I don't know the costs of everything except what Kvall already said, but I applaud you Dana for your work on this. I've been following the things you're doing at work to help bring guidelines and awareness of trans issues. :icon_clap:

Oh, don't forget the costs of therapy visits and blood work... but I assume you already know the costs of those since you ladies have to do that too. My insurance covers those so I'm not sure of the overall costs. Plus each doctor and blood work has different fees too.

Thanks Kvall, this is helpful. Hopefully more will chime in. Who knows, maybe our policy can end up setting an example for other Universities. And from there, who knows.

The extra cost for trans-related care (including HRT, surgeries (FFS, GRS, BA, etc), laser hair treatment, and other things would only end up costing about $1 per person per year. So the incredibly cheap cost of this for the entire community makes it hard to fight. So please help me make this list!

And Radar, I am actually the poster child for transition at Penn right now. They are using my case to develop policies and procedures. It is exciting and frustrating at the same time!

Gentle nudge. I will be finishing my notes soon and I don't want to have to leave you guys out of it! Up to you.
