Could you, say, be in school one year and at the start of the year begin hormones...then at the end of the year noone notices? Like they still think you are male and don't suspect as long as you wear a binder?

Depends what mones you take.

I would say most likely people would notice, but it would be possible for some to get away with it.

I did something like this, but I was on hormones for a few months before the school year. Throught the year, I had at least one person asking me if I was a girl or a guy literally every day. I did have shoulder length hair at the time, however, and had no facial hair to speak of.

I agree though, result vary. If you wanted to remain presenting as male, you could get away with it, most likely.

Well, lemme tell you about my experience. I used to present as female. I lost forty pounds, had top surgery, and took testosterone. My voice was deep, my face and hairline changed, and I had very noticeable sideburns and a less noticeable wispy mustache.

My neighbors didn't seem to notice a thing. In their minds, I was female. So I guess they kept seeing me that way.

It's quite possible that people who know you won't notice much and people who are meeting you for the first time will be confused. But it really varies.

A few things to remember:

1. Hormones change you faster (and more) when you're younger.

2. You will almost certainly not last the year looking terribly masculine. So you'd best be cool with the "androgynous" look before you consider it.

3. I would never go on hormones in the first place unless you have a transition plan already in mind and discussed with a therapist.

4. Plans can change. If your body responds faster than you expect, be prepared to shift dates sooner.

Considering your young and still at School people probably would see some changes. For me personally no one noticed anything for years but then I was in my 40's!

  I shaved off a full beard, had my hair dyed to cover the gray, and had it cut in a definite feminine style.  A friend asked if I got new glasses.

Seriously, Jill, re-read Diana's advice. 

To my mind, this is not something you want to do without help while trying to sneak it past people.  We all react to the hormones differently.  There are some on this site (generally, older than you) who have taken hormones in stealth for close to two years.  There are others whose effects were noticable long before that.  I think you will need to be ready to out yourself if you don't come out before you start.

i'm sorta doing this right now.

And I haven't got too much weird stuff from people.  The people you see on everyday basis tend to be the last to notice if not oblivious to it.  The ones you see randomly are the ones that ask like what's different and stuff.  And the ones you don't know are the ones that ask the stupid questions or just make dumb remarks.
