I posted this in the activism thread but decided to post it here is well. I hope the cross-posting doesn't make anyone mad. This is a pretty important issue for those of us who live in the US.

Please contact Speaker Pelosi and urge her to bring ENDA (HR3017) to a vote. If we don't move now we may not get ENDA passed and even if it does pass it may not include protections for transgender folks. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! Please act now!!!

Her number is 202-225-4965

Wow, this is a bit disheartening.  Perhaps everyone wore themselves out trying to get ENDA past previously.

FOLKS THIS IS IMPORTANT! Forgive me for being a bit upset but can someone please commit on whether or not they made calls/contacts and if not the reason why? Does everyone realize that if we don't get ENDA passed this time it could be well over a decade before it even comes up again.

Are people satisfied with the current rights of LGBT folks here in the states?

I feel like I am in the twilight zone or something. How freaking bizarre it is that not one single person took a whole 5 minutes out of their day to make a simple phone call. You can bet your a** if ENDA doesn't get passed there will be a huge cryfest on this site about it. And who are we going to blame? I will DAMNED SURE not blame myself. Will you be blaming yourself or someone else?

You need to call your rep, not Miss Nancy (except for me its one in the same, and her vote is a given at any rate).  She has never called a vote that she has lost, hence, will not call this vote until she knows she has the 216 votes needed for passage.

Dana Lane,
I contacted my representatives about this. Let's hope it gets passed!

I've called and emailed every time.  While it is a bit disheartening that the politicians are too afraid to move on this, I keep plugging away.  In Illinois we have several groups, two to which I belong, that keep us all informed as to what is going on and what needs to be done.

Dana, I don't think people here don't care, it's just that it's easy to miss posts once they make it past the first page and that can happen quickly.  I just now saw this but a few hours from now, if no one posted to it, I probably would have missed it.

This is a US Government Website listing your representative, by State.

I do not think that the federal government is able to solve problems especially social ones. Desegregation is proof of that it still has not worked 50 years later. The Federal Government only does selective enforcement which makes being unequal only worse. It is only through hard work and proved responsibility that we will be accepted. Every time someone commits suicide or streetwalkers for prostitution it makes life more difficult for all the rest of us. Thousands of years of tradition and natural law have been used to make life harmonious. In today's world everything is fashion and mob rule with total disregard to virtue, character, and good. As long as people expect a government to give them rights without responsibility we are doomed to a life of depression.

I doubt that.  You're not allowed to own slaves anymore are you?  And I've had several AA bosses, could not imagine that happening without any of that.  Or even girls in the stagehand union.

QuoteCalled last night after the health care bill passed and it is time to move on to ENDA.

The health care reform is anything but reform and will only drive this country down faster. It will be a long time before everyone will get the health care they want. What they did was take you freedom of owning you body away from you and grabbed more government control over it. It will now provide much needed employment to lawyers.
