I got my name changed today.  I must say as long as you have all the paperwork in order it's a rather uneventful process.  Waiting at the DMV is still a pain in the ass though.

I had thought changing mine would be no big deal - a minor step in the transition process.  But when I got papers saying the GUMMINT said I was Katherine I realized it is a big deal.  How can you argue with the gummint?

I waited at the DMV for a long time and finally got my new license.  They couldn't take the "M" off of it but whatever.  I already have a story to explain why its there should anyone ask. 

"Apparently they accidentally put M instead of F and hell if I'm going to wait in line at the DMV to get it changed."

Congratulations Getting all my ID and other records updated after my court order came through was the part I hated most. Then again I hate anytime I have to deal with a government agency, especially when I confused the hell out of them about what gender to refer to me as.
