Palm Springs, CA.

Wonderful desert living, a little toasty in summertime --like, 120°-- but so what. Strong LGBT presence: mayor and several city council members are gay. No real culture, but so what. Golf, (I don't) tennis, (I don't) swimming pools, (eeek, my hair!) casinos, (I don't) endless restaurants and exceedingly low crime.

I can't imagine living anywhere else.

I live in a rather rural area between Richmond,VA and Washington, DC. It isn't too bad except the nearest store (which is a truck stop BTW) is about 8-9miles away. Combine that with the 45-55mph speed limit on all the roads around here and my bike sits disused in storage.

Locally there isn't anything, and once you get on the DC Beltway, you find you'd rather be stuck in the rural areas rather than stuck in the traffic there. VA-234 is the last decent highway left up around there.

I wouldn't mind living in Fredericksburg, VA again (which is also between Richmond,VA and Washington, DC, but is right on the interstate and an independent city), which is primarily relics from the civil war and stuff for college kinds but I enjoy the place.

Ironically enough, I was looking into moving to Burlington, VT myself. In theory VT has laws protecting people, while the attorney general of VA just sent out letters to our community colleges saying it is again ok to fire gay people now. I guess the Republicans are trying to send a signal, they've been out of power for some time in this state and I suppose they are making up for it.

Lived in a small town Arcata in California (Humboldt County) most of my life, forest ocean did I mention small. Then Portland and Cambodia and back to Portland. Love Portland for all the reasons Janet mentioned. Lots of coffee, good food and nice people.

Heh, spent 10 months living there about 10 years ago (god that makes me feel old ) nobody in my family could stand the weather.

I live in Wisconsin.  Best part is the cheese. 
It's an ok place.  I'm glad to live in a larger city now, rather than the small conservative town I was raised in.

Here the liberals are conservative, well more so-cred but that's a different story.  On the bright side the province funds SRS in the end and I've found a therapist, GP and an endo within a kilometer or so of my apt.

Anyways I was born in Victoria, and have lived here for for my whole life of 20 years! I can't wait to get out of here  , I need change! Really though it's not too bad here. I don't live in the city itself, just really close, it's pretty calm where I live.

I live way across the oceans in Brisbane, Queensland - Australia.

It's the third largest city in Australia, with Sydney and Melbourne bigger.

Sydney, New South Wales Australia. Before moving here I lived in Nashville, Tennessee in the USA. I've been in Sydney 6 months altogether now and I love it! Subtropical weather, dozens of beaches (with hottie surfer boys), plenty of awesome Aussie wildlife, and more stuff to see and do than I'll possibly ever get around to.

Adelaide, South Australia. Good: Winery's, Beaches, Clipsal 500, Arts festival, nice climate, nice people (mainly). Bad: Can get to 45C plus in summer for days. bizarre murders over the years, bikie gangs, clueless politicians, no rain for ages, well we had some on sunday, first for about 6 months.

I had to do a trip to Melbourne a few weeks ago. Trying to get back was a nightmare as the rain was so heavy the airport closed!!!

When I got back, I just snuck inside the curfew, it was HOT and totally dry.

Originally from North Yorkshire, England brought up around the peace and quiet of the countryside, moorland and beach. Moved around a lot, after a few years in Ohio and Arizona I  returned to the UK and now reside near Manchester....which is an awesome city, the trans scene and support here is pretty good to.

Currently in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, after living in other parts of the state.

Good points are it's not too small, and not too big, there is a bit of culture, good restaurants, lots of wineries, the weather is reasonable most of the year although it does get into the 40's in Summer, if you like sports it's the sort of place you'll like, and it's surrounded by good motorcycle roads.

Bad points are- that it gets over 40 in summer especially when there is a hot North wind blowing, it is a couple of hours from the coast, there are far too many 'Bogans'(like US trailer trash without the Southern style!), shops are sometimes not that good, the employment situation is a bit slow. Sometimes the place lacks a bit of 'get up and go' attitude.
