You can get medical loans. I wouldn't recommend borrowing money for any reason (personally I'm not very responsible and I know I would eff things up) but if you are on track to a degree that will get you a well-paying job later, it might not be a bad idea if you can't wait. Also, transition is a GREAT motivator for working extra and putting away money, I think if you can swing that at all, it's a good experience that will teach you a lot about your own capabilities. And see if your school has any free counseling services, mine does, so I might not have to pay for therapy to get a letter first.
