did you use nair for body or nair for face? i tried nair for face and it did nothing.

Just for body. It says not to use on the face, I'm not sure why. I'm starting electrolysis for the face. That hurts too :P

I might be the only one but i LOVE mine. I have never seriously considered using it on my face but I use it everywhere else and it's saved me countless hours with the razor.

It's not perfect, there are always missed hairs...but I've gotten to the stage where most of the regrowth is finer less noticeable hair that is much less noticeable than the stubble that comes out within a day or two of shaving.

It still hurts some, more in some places than others (hardly at all on my legs) but never as much as it did at first. it's WELL worth it to me.

If there's a major drawback, it's that I have to wait 2-3 hours afterward for the inflammation to die down. So I have to consider my schedule before using it other than for touch up.

Disclaimer: due to serious injury, most of my posts are made via Dragon Dictation which sometimes butchers grammar and mis-hears my words. I'm also too lazy to closely proof-read which means some of my comments will seem strange.

ditto - facial hair is obviously way too course and stubborn . . .
Quote from: Hikari on March 25, 2010, 01:09:26 PMEven though my electrolysis machine does a plenty good job of marking my face up (but, the marks do go away) I figure i'd rather use it on my face than my epilator
Girlfriend of mine cleared most of face herself using electrolysis but it was a painful process that took years when you consider the miss rate and time for healing in between; she used a "hot" needle with the power applied all the time as opposed to a "trigger" which is the most excruciating thing one can do . . . I want FFS the face is the only thing in need so perhaps an epilator might be worth a good temp fix while waiting for funding in the meantime!

Thx!  :icon_bunch:

Right, I will be staying away from Epilators then!
I have had a laser test patch done and it wasn't too bad on the highest setting, so I will be using that for facial hair removal.
I find that shaving works well enough for my arms and legs. If I use the  "Venus Spa Breeze" with the soap blocks I don't get many ingrown hairs either.

i'm finding it difficult to read through this topic it is sending me tremors. judging from what i read, using Nair for body on your face sounds infinitesimally more pleasant than using an epilator.

I have discovered another thing to add to the epillator list of woe...despite rigorous ex-foliation I now have countless hairs on my arms that while not ingrowing, aren't really poking out either...grrrrrrr

I shall be offering the princely sum of £1.50 ($1) to anyone who can invent an off switch for body hair

Off switch for body hair is easy. It is called Death. (send $1 to charity) I do not recommend that answer but as all mammals have and grow body hair, and we are mammals, it is the only solution.

I'm going along with Laura Hope here. I like my epilator! Okay so the first few runs are a bit ouchy (but, I also have a rather high pain threshold), but after you get past the first couple hair cycles, and continue on a regular basis, then the pain becomes minimal - more of a mild annoyance after 20-30 minutes of constant heavy vibrations on the skin. I would not ever consider using the epilator on my face, or a couple of other rather sensitive skin areas. My hair is thick and very stubborn and very well rooted.

The advice given somewhere above me of shaving/trimming first (in the beginning) is good sound advice. By trimming close to the skin, then there are fewer hairs being grabbed by the medieval torture device and thus easier to manage (less hair = less pain). You will, however, have to repeat the process more often as the hairs are growing in. After a while, the hairs grow in much slower (3-4 weeks for me) and thinner, lighter and weaker (I am still pre-HRT). The longer you wait between rippings the thicker and stronger the hair gets - so grab it while it is short, thin and weak.

It's not.

Everyone has different experience -- I use an epilator and it really doesn't bother me very much.  The first time stings, but if you do it maybe once a week after that, there aren't enough hairs growing back for it to be that painful.

Never done it but the time is coming and fear grows. Has any one ever thought about local anesthetic or procedure involving sort of anesthetic. I would recommend heavy dose of vodka but then realize one might remove more than facial hair in the process.
