Ativan, you came looking for a fight. Sorry I can't give it to you. But I will say this:
You mistake the "right to liberty" we all have in the absence of being convicted of a crime with the right to "claim the liberty to walk around looking like an old middled-aged cross dressing fool and sleep at night" while denying anyone else the same rights begot by the Civil Rights movement.
There was a time when white people didn't like black people sitting at the front of the bus, or drinking from the same water fountain, or sitting at the same lunch counter as them, and it wasn't as long ago as you might think.
Does it matter if I was actually sitting there and saw it with my own eyes? No of course not. But as long as you ask, yes, I am old enough to have remembered and experienced it.
There was a time when women with doctorate of law degrees could only get jobs as legal secretaries because men didn't think they should be lawyers, and it wasn't as long ago as you might think.
There was a time when the disabled couldn't enter a courthouse or any other public building because they couldn't get up the steps, and it wasn't as long ago you might think.
There was a time when women had to seek out back-alley abortions or carry to term and give birth to children they didn't want, and it's not over yet.
On top of all that, the transgendered are pretty much expected to "just live with it" for the most part.
Why is this? Because of tolerance...tolerance of the ignorant.
It's one thing to be tolerant of the ignorant, but quite another to sit and listen to a family member who is racist, xenophobic and homophobic in the face of all evidence to the contrary. I suppose there are some who can excuse this. I'm not one of them.

I should also mention that it's completely different to be tolerant of the ignorant while being a coward and running away from the forces of hate and bigotry just to save your own skinny ass after so many have died defending the same rights you now take for granted.
But if that's your gig and Susan will let you do it...eh, it's not my concern.

:)Thanks!
Now back to polishing my tolerance so it will shine again....... So hard to get this tarnish off....
Polish your sense of discretion, if you have one. You're a complete shame to the TG community. Don't do us any favors by opening your mouth, thank you very much.
