So I just found out I have an appointment with an endocrinologist in two days, however I have yet to see a therapist/psychologist/psychiatrist ???  Could this be a mix up with my doctors office or something?  I really don't want to go in there and just get turned around at the door on Thursday :embarrassed:

This doesn't seem like the normal path to hormones I've heard about and would love some insight.

Edit: OK even more confused now, therapist's office just called with an appointment the day after x.x Is it in any way normal to see an endo before therapy starts?

In the US, standards of care requires 3 months of therapy in order to receive a HRT letter.

Informed consent clinics will treat you without, when you sign a waiver acknowledging the risks.

I would call the endo's office and talk to a nurse about things, and call the therapist as well.

Canadian, so I'm not really sure how much it changes things with the SoC, I'm guessing the same thing here but not sure ???

I'll give the office a call and check whats up though.

The endo can at least order baseline blood samples be taken and start your case file.
Go to the apointment.

If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Mkay just got off the phone with her office, apparently the appointment is more about my weight then trans issues right now because I haven't seen a therapist.  Guess I got all worried about nothing.

Exact same thing for me Jessie, saw her before any other person (well I was going to therapy at the time, was for depression mostly though). She checked my blood pressure, gave me some forms for a blood test, talked to me a bit, stuff like that. I was shaking like a leaf the entire time I was there (no one in my family knew yet), probably the majority of that appointment was her trying to calm me down/console me . I came back to her a second time, had my blood results then, talked a bit more, and she gave me a name for someone who could do a HRT letter.

I'm beginning to think I stepped on someones shoes and now karma is messing with me for it x.x

I just got off the phone with yet another therapist who, for some reason, wanted to discuss social anxiety issues that I don't even have :-\  Told them I didn't have social anxiety issues, but that I had other things I didn't feel like talking about over the phone.  But since I'm under 19 they want to throw me through a bunch of loops before they even meet with me...  :icon_censored:

Is there any point in having two therapists anyways?  Last I checked for provincially funded SRS you have to get approved by a gov. appointed/licensed therapist or something like that for one of the letters.

Can't advise you, since I'm from the heathen U.S. of A., but I would be confused too if I were you. Endo, two head docs, phantom social anxiety issues...I want whatever these folks are smoking!!!
