What does it mean to you?

For me it means:

What size are they?... Will they fit right?

What style and or brand have you found to fit well for you?

I like my Levi's 501's plenty good but am thinking about branching out

Lee relaxed (fit) straight-leg (in petite short :( )

I wish I had longer legs but i suppose there's a reason for it, I went with them (lee brand) for comfort and I get it in spades.

I basically have 2 pairs of the exact same size 7 Paris Blues jeans which I wear all the time, and then 2 other YMI jeans that are a little more fem that I wear less often.  I have another pair of YMI's but the button came off and I haven't gotten around to fixing it.  Got all of them for $15 each.

Since Levi's and Lee's quality control went slack back in the late '80s-early '90s, I've lost my faith in the traditional brands (I used to always get a great fit without trying them on). Lately I've liked Newport News Jeanology line, which I can get great deals on from their clearance section. I like stretch jeans for the best girlish fit. One pair I have even has a built-in black lace pantie, which pretty much keeps my business tucked very well without any additional help.

The best pair of jean's I have are boot cut (short) Pink from Victoria's Secret. They are super cute and I get compliments on them every time I wear them. :D

I have a pair of Gloria Vanderbelt, size 10, that I love.

Right I'm starting a Janet style LIST of everyone who can fit these lovely small sizes. I may have a nice big cleavage and wide hips - but boy do I pay for it in other ways.

Size 18 is the smallest thing I can wear, any smaller and it simply doesn't go past the hips... and just to make things worse big brands like Levi's and the like seem to stop at size 16 ! GRRRRR!

I love to wear my jeans...The best fitting for me is size 8/9 Refuge from Charlotte Rousse...

I think there is no clear boundary between girl's and men's pants.

As jeans are for activity, I like stretchable blue jeans from Wal-mart (brand name is "Riders"). There are cheap (ca. $20), and smallest size I saw was lady's 6. They are so comfortable that you can even do stretching with those jeans. I purchased several pairs in 2003, but now they become a little bit loose  ("stretchable"). They are not so much fashonable, but I still wear them while hiking and working.

Thank you everyone for your replies  :) I'll have to try some of those out

Oh, I'm rather tall (6'2) Do some of these brands offer tall sizes?

Well, you just have to look a bit harder. It's probably a bit trickier to find them in stores than online. Newport News has many of it's main styles of jeans in tall sizes, though I just checked and the clearance dept. didn't have much. Their normal price section is very reasonable, though and there are plenty of tall jeans there.

Buying jeans is an area I'm oddly lucky with. While I'm 5'11" tall, I'm long waisted, so I can wear regular women size 10 pants/jeans. I try to avoid low-riders, though.

I found Old Navy jeans come in both short and long. They have a super selection of jeans! You're sure to find something there. I prefer the Diva cut.

US standard size stretchable jeans for women will fit to 6'2".

Oh. Today I wear 27" skinny jeans, and suddenly felt that it was too tight for my waist after eating a meal. It's rainy, and I will run for 2-3 hours when rain stops.

Going to second this Old Navy they are really great, I'm actually wearing some of there Diva jeans right now actually ;). Only thing is that they seem to make their (waist) sizes pretty big, I'm wearing a size 4 from there and it's still a bit loose, and I don't think I'm that skinny lol.

My wife likes Old Navy stuffs, and she gave me her Old Navy jeans to me seveal months ago. The size is 10, a little bit bigger to my waist, but anyway fashionable, comfortable and affordable.

Oh. Good news is that my belly is shrinking rapidly. I do not know why, but possible reasons I am thinking are:

1. I did not drink milk for 1 week while travelling in Japan (I heard that milk stimulates appetite).
2. I ate breakfast a lot in Japan (I heard that eating a lot in the morning will actually help loosing the belly fat)
3. Exercise outdoors (but my belly became bigger in winter despite my regular exercise).

To be honest, I've not found that much difference in fit between my super skinny boy jeans and the super skinny girl jeans I wear. As for size it's usually around a 10, but depends on cut and brand, so trying them on is essential really.

From working retail in the juniors department, I've learned that most jeans are made for the "average" girl. This means according to sizing charts, there is a ten inch difference between the waist and hips. If you measure the smallest part of your waist and the widest part of your hips (which will go over your butt) this will give you an idea of where you fall.

Because the difference for me is about 12-13 inches, jeans never fit! If they fit my butt and thighs, they are always way too tight in the waist. I know many people who have small hips have the opposite problem, where if it fits in the legs and butt, it is too loose in the waist and they have to wear a belt.

I think finding that perfect pair involves lots of trying on brand after brand, size after size, since even brands, styles, and sizes vary tremendously.
