QuoteSPRINGFIELD, IL - Equality Illinois reported today that the Illinois House of Representatives voted by 108-0 to pass SB3266, which will require schools to fight bullying in schools by adopting anti-bullying policies, creating resistance education and training for students, and other reasonable measures.  The Illinois State Senate passed the bill earlier this month.

Significantly, this bill covers bullying specifically targeted at students because of their sexual orientation or gender identity, among other categories.

Little by little we chink away at the bully's armor.  They are losing their stranglehold on society.  Might doesn't make right.
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

108 - 0?  Apparently when you get (enough) over the hump, no one wants to get caught standing in your way.

Little by little the bullies are losing ground.

Imagine being the one or two who voted against it.

I could have seen 20+ stand against it on the grounds of the TG component if they felt they could defeat the bill.  However, once a few Republicans peel away and defeat is assured, the GOP will usually read the writing on the wall and get the heck out of the way, especially since appearing "pro-bully" (whether fair or not) does not look good on TV.

I like the result, but the context of some of the those votes is worth considering.

IL is making leaps and bounds while we slowly pass legislation against progress just over the border in WI. We need a group like Equality IL up here!! :)

In Finland it would have been risk to vote for to centter-left because ''schoolbulling makes men'' as does the mockery in the army.
