Anyone who is considering it.  California has some hard requirements for certification if you come from out of state in a lot of other fields also.  There is not across-the-board reciprocity in all places, not by a long shot.  And that's not just Cali.  It's something to look into before you move if you have state issued professional credentials and licences.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

Gotcha.  I'm lucky in that my state and CO are under the compact state agreement.  So I have at least 30 days to work under my old state's license before I have to get a CO license.  But thanks for the reminder in just in case.  I'm still a long ways away from moving, but I know other people need to think about that sort of thing.

Are those one of the licenses that prevent name change?

It's a nursing license.  On the NCSBN website, it said that to contact one's state board of nursing to get a name change on a license.  So I assume, no.

to Brainiac:

sorry for the late response. im not involved in any trans groups here besides the one at my college but there a few ive heard about:

BATS (Boston Area Trans Support) -- a group for people in their 20s
Compass -- purely for FTMs and is all over the northeast
ECFTMG (East Coast Ftm Group) -- also purely for FtM and genderqueer born-females

there are other groups for LGBTQ people, pretty much all over the place up here. just google around.
