I watched 'Avatar' for the first time today. It was a good movie. Special efects and creativity were good. A friend recommended the movie to me.

I tend to agree...if it hadn't been for the great visuals on the big screen and in IMAX and all of that, it would have been a complete waste of time instead of just a semi-adequate way to blow a couple of hours and ten bucks.

I came to the same conclusion. It's been repeating itself among the indigenous people in Latin America now.

Farm Boy

I really enjoyed it.  The special effects were nice and I got a laugh when I heard the T-Rex from Jurassic Park roaring out of the black, cat-like creature's mouth.  Perhaps it's not the most original story in the world, but I don't think it's a bad story either.

I can't stand 3-D personally, so I made sure to go to a 2-D showing.  3-D just never looks right to me and it makes me nauseous.  Maybe it's just me...

Bit heavy-handed and revisionist in that respect, I thought. But I guess it's better than glorifying colonialism.

I also avoided it, so no 3D experience here. I saw it 2D in two parts since I nearly fell asleep (it was late... I was tired... Not much happens the first hour..)... In the end it was a pretty o.k. movie to me, overhyped nonetheless, and I pretty much felt like I was watching a videogame and couldn't play (damn cutscenes...).

Big Modo

Basically it's just Fern Gully set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Can't knock it though, I particularly enjoyed it.

Didn't enjoy the rather cramped sold out cinema though, sitting right at the front of the theatre with £D glasses is not recommended let me tell you >_o

I got this movie in Blue Ray and have watched it 6 times this week. I guess you could say that I enjoyed it. Yeah I really enjoyed it!

I've still not seen it but everyone seems to go on about how good it is all the time.

I can't say that I liked it, sorry. My mum loved it, though.

I just really hate that whole white man burden thing... or the white guy comes in and saves all the natives who can't save themselves. It all seems weird to me. Sorry if I offend anyone, but I really hate those types of plots.

Shang

I've seen this movie.

I liked it all right, then I realized it was just an amped up version of Pocahontas. And I couldn't get behind the cat-people.  Maybe if they had been dragon people I would have cared more...I guess I'm also extremely tired of the whole "humans are bad" thing or "the white americans are bad" thing.  It gets irritating when I see it over and over again.

So do I.

Actually, it just irks me when a movie slates human beings as terrible creatures... I'm pretty sure we're not the only ones that do horrible things.

Yeah, truly, also... all humans have shown the capability of committing war. Heck, my ancestors were always having wars against other tribes, but not even just sentient creatures have wars... even ants commit wars, all animals fight when they themselves deem it necessary... either to defend their children or to gain more territory. Lucky for us humans, we've evolved some and are also capable of not fighting.

Would have liked it better if it had more shades of grey.
