Bumping this subject up to a new date/post.
I have been corseted 23/7 for about a year now..and I enjoy it immensely. My original reason, besides the medically advised ones were that I wear women's stretch jeans and the hip line is not in the right place on a male figure. Wearing a corset let me set my hip line where it oughtta be and now my natural waist and hipper jeans fit and stay where they are supposed to..at my elbow which is where a true woman's waist is.
Take a good look at a GG and see where their elbows fit right into their natural waistline..which BTW is also right at their navel. This indentation or bend of the arms at the elbows to clear their (broader) hips is called their carrying angle which males do not have..male arms drop straight from their shoulders as they have no real hips to circumnavigate.
Males have that longer arm length to contend with and helping the vision with a narrow waist makes passing if that's what you want to do...easier. Males also wear their slacks/pants on their hips which are significantly lower than a GG.
I have significant breast growth (38-B) so a male-gender type corset is not good..don't even consider it if you have any development at all. There are versions for TV/TG and Males and GG wimmen...but you can find something that will do exactly what you need or want if you look around enough.
I am currently wearing mine at about 6½ inches under natural waist size now and can get down to -8 or -8½ inches if I want to really put the pressure on.
I needed some support for my osteoporosis and my degenerative spinal condition, and my ortho told me that this last August was going to be my last walking month without some sort of support.
The model I have is an underbust style, as I like to wear a good wired bra with it and then again I sometimes like to change to a different bra type and a cupped or overbust corset would not afford me that choice.
Just be sure to fit your corset about a full inch or so under your breast as the wires in the bra will be pressed very hard into the chest wall if they get covered by the corset. For safety and to avoid burnout from the pain, also start at about 2"-4" below normal waist size at first.
I chose a model from Versatile Fashions in Orange, CA., and they have been particularly nice to me. They are very TG-friendly and take fitting appointments M-F and sometimes on Saturday.
They have a pretty good selection on the rack and services available to get anything you want..they could even corset the Star Wars Bar patrons if they can measure them. If you get crazy and want all the bells, be prepared to shell out a few yards of cash. The customs are $$$$, but a good and well made corset will last years if taken care of and not abused.
I wear my older, first original corset to bed to help with the waist training and the back-vertebrae support as I found that without a corset I was having a hard time getting up in the morning with the pain. I hated to take Vicadin or Tramadol for the pain as it causes a lot of intestinal grief if you know what I mean.
A corset gets to know you and starts to fit itself to you like a new baseball glove being broken in.
It takes a while for you and it to get on a really personal level, so try to stick with it at first..it DOES get easier and a lot more comfortable after a short while if you don't abuse yourself and/or it.
You will soon forget that you even have it on and when it's off..you'll miss it terribly.
PS: Sex in a corset is fantastic...your whole body is in rhythm and it feels very good when all the parts get to play.
So..I wear the corset all day and just take it off for showers and baths...and sometimes but rarely when I have to go out with very light and cool clothing on...as it would show a lot that way. I don't present as female and try for a more andro look that keeps them guessing.
I originally wanted to get a front laced version, but the busks are not as strong in that design, and finally opted for the rear-laced and that requires someone else to help me put it on. I am getting almost to the point of being able to lace myself as I don't have to apply as much pressure as originally.
When you buy a corset, get it fitted by someone who really knows what they are doing..and the type of body you have is important. There are so many different types of corsets..from full-blown Victorian "Heaving Bosom" kinds to very petite heavy duty belts like the "Obi" that is worn by the Japanese geisha.
Materials are important..they can be very feminine and then they can be very industrial too. Your choice is to decide if you like a sexy-goth-vixen-harlot-vamp-queen-barmaid-wench-or space alien style.
I chose a very simple material, silk with black panels and black piping and bone covers, and a hint of white piping on the top rim and at the edges of the laces.
Don't cheap-out and get a corset with plastic boning. You need true steel in them bones or you are just fooling around and should really be wearing a costume corset with no lacing capacity at all.
One warning..they are habit forming and you will find that if you get a good quality you will forget that you have it on after a short time. Don't try to tighten it up all the way the first week or so, just try to follow the natural trend of the changes to your ribs and stomach and when you get to the end of the lace adjustments, it's time to get a smaller corset.
Also, get the (sometimes optional) vanity panel to keep the laces off your skin. It is a very good idea to not bleed when you are wearing your corset...unless that's what you are looking for.
I went through three the first year, and use one of them as my sleeping corset at night. I also don't have any garters on any of them. Garter belts are fun if you want to go that way.
I suppose there's some "kink" in the idea of a corset...but I find (in my case) that I really appreciate the support and the shape I get from it all at the same time.
Some corsets, especially the Victorians and long overbust versions have a little point that is on the bottom of the corset..that if you have male plumbing, can be in a precarious position when you sit down. I suggest that you get a square cut bottom if that proves to be a problem and you don't gaff.
Use the Sumo-tuck and a pair of snug hipster panties and maybe I sometimes use the legs-cut-off version of some control top panty hose to pack things away. It works and makes a good flat front area.
There's no way to wear slacks in a Victorian corset..I know what I am saying here!
In the time before your corset arrives, I found that wearing a full-length longline bra is a good pre-training aid.
There are a great number of corset sites on the web..some are just plain strange and some are very medical in spirit..but there's something for everybody. I have not gone for the tight-lacing yet..but it is interesting to read and see the pictures of waists that are so small they represent hat sizes.
Not quite my cuppa.
You WILL stand up straight (Remember Rusty Warren's song?) You will lose weight as you will eat a lot less and you will look very ladylike as you walk. You WILL jiggle in all the right places. Even an "A" cup will have some overflow...er...."problems"... .....and they WILL look good!
If anyone wants info or questions answered, I will be here sporadically and try to get back to you...please be patient.
