I was reading Susan's biography and I noticed the first few paragraphs are my life exactily.....
I'm just curious as to how many others parents were told by the doctors that they would be a different gender than we were born.

I don't know if the doctors were the ones who told my parents (my memory of the story is a little rusty-- I'm tempted to ask my mom, but I'm sort of avoiding gender-talk with her at the moment), but I know my parents were all ready with a boy name for me because they were convinced I was going to be male. They were a bit surprised to find that I was female. x3

I had a running joke when I was younger about my gender. It was something to the effect of, "Well, I was actually supposed to be a boy, but when I was born I ended up in a girl body, so now I'm both!" My parents had also thought my brother was going to be a girl, and he has always been a rather gender-gifted kid, so I had a variation of this joke that involved our bodies getting switched before we were born. (Of course, this used kid-logic. And kid-logic allows you not only to switch bodies, but to switch bodies with someone who won't even exist for another three years. Yup.)

Funny how self-aware kids are without even realizing it, sometimes.

They couldn't tell by ultrasound, so nobody knew my sex until I was born.

My parents said I didn't take kindly to doctors' interest in my genitals

Actually I have kind of a funny story...  They said from the ultrasound I would be born a girl, and my brother who is three years older than me was all excited to have a little sister he could dress up and call Cinderella.  My brother wasn't very happy about having a little brother so he tried to throw me in the garbage, hated me being around and actually until maybe two months ago (when friends started mistaking me for a girl when they can't see my face, and mistaking random girls on the street for me) he's always treated me like I don't deserve to be around him.  Coincidence?

Well, when I was born, my Nana asked my mum what they decided to call me...when she was told it was James Douglas, she came out with the line "that's a funny name for a girl". she was right tho...it is a funny name for a girl.
