So I was with my sister yesterday, she went out and brought 2 new outfits.
We go back to her place and she could not find any shoes that went well with it.  So she decided to go out and buy some 2 more pairs so shoes to go with her new clothes. I said to her Ill come with you. (she looked at me strange)

So we went of to this nice little shoe shop that has just opened, she was trying on heaps of different pairs and just could not find anything that went well with this outfit she just brought. (She wore it out to make sure the shoes went well with it) So I said to her, here try these ones on, she looked at me stupuid and told me that they would look ugly! I told her just to try them. She put them on and loved them!!!!  She could not belive that I picked her shoes for her and that she thought they would look horrible!

So she then started looking around again for more shoes to go with her other outfit, she just could not find anything she thought would go with it. So again I went and grabed and said get this pair, they will go fantasic!  Again i got a funny look, and was really unsure to start with and then agreed.

She went home put the other outfit on with the shoes and loved it once again!

Then she said, would'ent it been so much better if you were my sister instead of my brother. I completly froze.... I had no idea what to say. Then I just made this sarcasic laugh and walked out of the room very fast!!

She gave me such a strange look.... I think she suspecets somthing......

No, but it is cool to know she took you with shoe shopping.

You do seem to love making life difficult for yourself. Unless my memory is playing tricks that is the second golden opportnity you seem to have missed to come out at a sympathetic moment. If I was you I would go and find her right now and have a little chat while the memory is fresh in her mind. If you are worried about your parents ask her to keep it as her secret - most girls like having secrets!

Unless you are seriously going to spend all your life in unhappy denial and repression you have to know by now that you've got to do this sooner or later so why not do it at a time when it's likely to get a good response?

Trust me for most of us - it becomes sooooo much easier once everything is out in the open, even if families sometimes do take a little time to adjust.

Hmm to be all honest with you, now is not really a great time to come out, a few things needed to be sorted with my health at the moment before I even think about it.
I belive when the time is right, it will all come naturaly, I hope haha

Maybe I am just your sister trapped in your brother's body!

Since my teens, people used to say that if I were born a girl and my sister were born a boy, that would be far better. My sister was pretty at that time, but my personality and body language was more girly than her. The same is true for my first son and little daughter.

Some unmarried men used to ask me whether I have an elder sister. When I said no, they were disappointed to sigh. And some of my male mates used to swear that they would assuredly wish to marry me if I were born a woman. Some of them actually visited my home to see my sister.

Last Christmas, I went to Sephora with my sister (as her brother, but she knows one day we'll be sisters).  It was a bit awkward at first, but after about ten minutes I think we both relaxed.  I think she was a little surprised at how much I knew about makeup and started asking my opinion.

That was a perfect opertunity to say "me too" :\ I don't have any sisters so I can't relate to anyone in the family prior to coming out..

I think that is wonderful for you to feel that form of femininity in bonding, even though it is subtle for some people it is enough. If your goal is to transition I think that's wonderful but being ready for each step is quite important. I don't think we should pressure each other to open up to our families. That is something that we will decide on personally and should be. Sorry! I just sensed frustration in the posts following, and It really irked me because I can't say I could judge you in any situation. Especially from the internet! When the comfort arrises, and the conversation is good it will happen. The shoe shopping will become a memory your sister could look back on in the future when you do tell her.   According to the looks she gave you and how you described them, i would safely assume she isn't particularly prepared. I'm just saying, that isn't a signal of understanding you as trans as much as it could have been her joking but understanding you have a good eye for shoes.
Not to say she couldn't be ready(because i don't know your life well at all).. But some times slipping in those signs of your femininity is a way to start preparing your family first. And i'm positive that when the time is right you wont sarcastically laugh and leave the room, you will know  And none of us can tell you when that is. In my opinion.

Torn1990 - I don't think any of us were trying to "judge" anyone. Just to gently encourage Justme19 to take advantage of the opportunity with a bit of friendly wry commentary. Because when you are older the thing that almost everyone does is to look back and regret the missed opportunities and the wasted time when we were young.

I'm lucky that I mostly did get on with it all, but I hear lots of people on here lamenting the fact that they didn't so I tend to regard it as my part to be the voice of encouargement to positive action. I was also refering back to an earlier dialogue before you joined the board.

But absolutely all meant in a positive way so please don't be upset.

Who doesn't in some form regret they wish they pressed "x"  in their youth? (Trans or not trans)
I think there is reasoning that as we get older becomes less clear now then it was then.
