Okay, I have the one touch kit. And I recently bought two really strong 9v batteries along with a charger. Now I'm wondering what if I take the plug in the one touch kit (where you insert the battery) and attach to the charger plug(where you connect the battery). So instead of connecting a 9v battery to the charger I'm connecting the one touch kit!

Okay I know it would extremely stupid for me to try this right now- I know that because I could get electrocuted, start a fire, blow up my one touch kit etc

Now I heard someone post hear about modifying their one touch kit and they had a success with it- so I'm asking

1) do you think this is the proper way to modify the kit?

2) I bought 2 strong 9v batteries, do you think it should just stick with that?

If you want to hook it up without spending a fortune in batteries, go to Radio Shack.   You can get a little converter/adapter there which will safely allow you to attach it to a 9 volt plug.  DO NOT just hook it up direct.  It probably won't really hurt you, but it's almost guaranteed to fry the One Touch.

I really wouldn't advise trying that.

Power supplies and chargers are two different things altogether.
Batteries are designed to discharge at a specific rate and most battery powered equipment is designed to operate at the amperage supplied by the batteries.
Chargers designed for rechargeable batteries generally tend to be fairly high amperage to promote fast charging which is controlled by built in micro circuitry.
Trying to combine the two could possibly damage both beyond repair, and also invalidate any warranties. Plus theres the risk of injury or fire if it decides to go off with a bang.

Check to see if the manufacturer of the kit does a power supply that can be plugged into a wall socket. Sometimes they come as optional extras.
If not, it may be possible to buy a power supply and connect it yourself, but you will need to carefully check the required voltage and current usage of the kit before you do. Also, if the kit is new and you modify it yourself, your warranty goes out the window even if it fails for a totally different reason.

If you are not sure, I would just stick with the batteries. Its much safer!

Hi, after lurking forever, I decided to respond to this post.  I will post introduction later. I have had laser as well as electro and am almost done. I used the one touch at various times and use it now for those pesky group of hairs that keep popping up!  Warning! do not modify unless you know what you are doing!  One time I used too much salt in the water and burned (or at least severly irritated) some follicles.  Fortunately it healed well with no permanent scarring. Normally I do it on Sat., get a little swelling on Sun. and OK for Monday at work.  I can do maybe 25-30 an hour, with 60% of hairs coming out with the whole or partial shaft, and 85-95% coming out with the root ball.  Of course I have been doing it off and on for quite a while.  I use 1 Walgreens 9volt disposable batteries for each 1 1/2 hour session.  I mention their brand only because they often have a buy one 6 pack get one free coupon in their sunday paper insert, and I am cheap.  Get plenty of stylises (sp) they bend easily and if you try to straiten them I think they are harder to insert and irritate the follicle wall more.  In fact learning how to find the shaft opening, inserting, only then touching the metal contact on the pen, the releasing the contact while you are removing the stylis takes quite a bit of practice.  Large thick guy hairs have a large opening and are pretty easy to access.  The smaller velous hairs (mostly what I'm down too) are harder.  I find that after an hour, my eyes are glazed over and I'm not hitting the right spot.  Good luck and I hope this helps.

I don't need much done, I'm just going for a touch up... it's going to suck. I hate laser and I'm so glad I'm done except my upper lip loves keep having hair (it's pretty fine, although... I don't get thick hairs).

But, I don't know, if this thing worked, it would be good for the odd hair or two with out paying a lot of cash. Laser isn't cheap, neither is electro.

I had one of the Igia one touche and throw it away as I got no results. The best is to go a professional. I have tried a lot of home things with out success and wasted a lot of money.

I later read on the internet that the company is a fraud and the FDA banned their products.

I once read somewhere that the manufacturer specifically avoided offering a power adapter due to safety concerns. I wouldn't recommend modifying it, as you could permanently scar your face. The risk of that versus the cost of some batteries... I'd go with getting the batteries

IGIA products worked differently if I remember, supposedly using tweezers and radio waves or some such nonsense. The One Touch is a real (though low-power) galvanic electrolysis unit.

    The one touch has a "needle" which is inserted into the folicle which then makes a contact when it reaches moisture.  Unfortunately, it is quite slow and time consuming.  I have found that it takes 35-40 seconds of contact per hair.  However, if you examine the root ends a relatively high percentage have the entire hair folicle (it looks a bit like a booger) attached.  Almost all have the root ball.  I check pretty frequently with a small mag.lense to make sure that I am leaving it in long enough or that the battery is still good.  Most of my hair is gone from two years of laser and electro, I am just cleaning up.
     I went to a ts friendly shop,Laser lovers in St.Pete, until they closed.  Since then I have been to several "professionals" that I haven't felt comfortable with.  Virtually the first thing they suggest is a very expensive round of Laser!  Then when you insist on electolosis, you don't feel anything.  Electrolosis doesn't hurt (I have a high pain tolerance) but you know it when it happens.  Gee, If they just pluck you you'll have to come back forever!  Doing it myself at least gives me the feeling that I'm participating as well as avoiding getting ripped off!

If I may ask - where does one get more info on them?

I did a search at Hairtell.com and found this site http://www.geocities.com/hairfreethere/    Please note that I haven't tried any of the rube goldberg looking contraptions he shows, but this site as well as Hairtell.com have info on efficacy of onetouch.  It is slow, and requires a large learning curve but if you are cleaning up, it does work.

I use hairfacts.com for electrolysis and laser information.

They say that the "One Touch" is one of the few that do work although not as well as professional machines. Maybe because they are galvanic. I have one but stopped using it when I started professional electrolysis. However it did work.

About IGIA  they say: IGIA hair removal products should be avoided by all consumers.

I use the one touch home electrolysis unit. It do work, but you have to invest a lot of time doing it, because it is very time consuming, however you get the feelign, that you are actually doing something in your progress.

In time you will get better doing it, and hit (kill) more hairs. I think It's a very good option, if you are short of money, and like me, can't afford either laser og pro electrolysis.

I'm considering investing in a more pro (Used) equipment, and increase my hit ratio considerably
