Cures

What I am interested in, however, is how we think of ourselves.  I've "attacked" the ideas of "passing" and of "disclosure" and now I'm going to tackle one that a lot of people won't like and I don't really give a ->-bleeped-<- about that either, but it could be interesting to see them step around this one.

Curing Transsexualism.

What do you "cure"?

A cure is a "fix".  You fix broken things. You cure something that is wrong. Unless it's the skin of a dead animal.

If one follows a biological model of transsexuals as being people who are "born that way" — someone who is inherently transsexual — then by saying that one cures a transsexual you are saying that something is wrong with them.

And, to be perfectly frank, that line of reasoning bothers me.
