Any art fans here? I was at the Art Institute in Chicago recently and saw a picture by Ivan Albright called 'That Which I Should Have Done I Did Not Do (The Door.)'

Basically it is just a picture of a door. A picture that he took 10 years to paint. It's a warped down straining with time and decorated with a wilting funeral wreath. An elderly hand reaches for the door but it's entirely to late for him.

Think of all the possibilities behind that door. Everything that he could of accomplished but never did for whatever reason. After I saw that picture is when I decided to stop living for others and live for myself. To allow myself to be who I am. Because a life not lived is not a life worth living at all.

It looks much more striking on the wall of the museum then in that photo.

Any piece or art, whether it be a panting, music or literature inspire you?  We all have to be drawing strength for this ridiculously hostile journey we are all on from somewhere.  At least it's hostile for me.

Don't be scared to fly alone, find a path that is your own
Love will open every door it's in your hands, the world is yours
Don't hold back and always know, all the answers will unfold
What are you waiting for, spread your wings and soar

Robert Frost's poem The Road Not Taken...here's the last stanza:

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The whole poem of The Road Not Taken has inspired me my whole life.
"In this one of many possible worlds, all for the best, or some bizarre test?
It is what it is—and whatever.
Time is still the infinite jest."

Imma art student! But I like to say artist already, because I'm so up myself.

Annnnd uselessly, I can't think of anything off the top of my head..but I'll get back to you.

Some may debate it as "art", but Lady Gaga saying "I'm a free bitch" helps me out quite a bit  :)

Honestly, as an artist who has done pro work before, I think the whole "you need to be x to be an artist" seems more pretentious than calling yourself an artist.

Ha cool. At my school hardly anyone actually wants to be a practising artist.  It's weird.

I think your school would drive me nuts then, lol. I don't know, whenever I hear people talk that way about being an artist, it just makes me think they're taking it way too seriously.

It just makes me think of those people who think you should always hate your art because liking it automatically means you're egotistical.

I hate my art right now, it just feels like the worst stuff I've ever done.  And I've slacked off way too much.  It's all false starts and good ideas that I second guessed and it's now too late to work on. I usually like my work.

Basically, I let my transition get in the way of my school work. It was hard going to school and being girled by my crap tutor.  My work has suffered big time.  I'm really depressed about it.

I know what you mean. It's such a bummer.

But I remember one guy saying how his art process started out with him thinking it was going to be awesome, then terrible, then OK, and at the end he feels content with how it turned out. I think that's how most pieces go, lol.

Haha, yeah that's actually very true! I'm just having a major spot of art angst today, got to work through it.

This is the part where I jump up and down and wave my hand frantically ands say "ME ME!!!" because I don't only appreciate art, I think I'm in mad love with it. So sorry boys and girls I'm taken. I'm going to go fawn over another painting now, excuse me....

Oh man, I just found out an artist who means an awful lot to me died today.  Louise Bourgeois, she was totally amazing. "I really want to worry people, to bother people,"  Mostly unknown til she was 70.

And I know she was 98, so it's so surprise, but I feel teary.

This is a picture from deviantART that I found. Its just, freaking awesome in my opinion. It tells a whole story about transguys. That, and the title is pretty great. :D
