it has messed me up for two weeks now.  first i got all emotional and dumb and it was annoying cos i knew exactly what it was.  i was listening to my ipod and I Get Around by the Beach Boys came on and I nearly cried because it seemed like such an unbelievably sad song to me.  which is bizarre, because it's joyous. Maybe cos I'm not driving around with my buddies being left alone by bad guys and meeting babes. no, i'm wandering around with blood in my pants tearing up. LAME.  then it happened again when I was ranting about public health and how there are not enough psychiatrists in the public health system and mentally ill people end up homeless if they can't afford a private doc.  it was like I could feel the pain of the whole world, really intense.

i hate it! and now it's here.  i don't like wearing tampons cos it hurts to stick them in.  but pads i have to feel grossly on me all day and see blood everytime i take a piss. gross.  so over this.

maybe i should do period blood grafitti on the mens room wall - F**K THIS S**T!

(at my catholic school girls school girls would smear it all over the walls....grosssssss...and write "look what mum packed for lunch.....)

(sorry if that was too disgusting but i;m in a disgusting mood)

I feel your pain.. periods make me so pissed off!

I would suggest you try tampons again.. you just need to relax when you put it in.. but really.. pads made my dysphoria, and discomfort worse. with a tampon.. you can forget about the blood for maybe 3-6 hours at a time at least.

oh.. and i was using the mens room once with my period.. i got blood on the toilet hahah! it made me feel kinda better.. cause I imagined how the next guy would react to it.. it was kinda funny.

Agree. Pads definitely make it worse for me, I hate them.

I agree, tampons let me forget about it, sure it sucks having to put it in but I find them much better then pads.

Yeah I usually have the smallest type of tampon you can get, which is ok.  I only have these other ones right now tho which are so sore to put in.  Grr.  It took me years to work tampons out properly. I'm really broke right now, so I'm just using these free samples of pads even tho it is so sucky. I just don't want to spend more of my money on it!  bla! I haven't actually used pads for ages, I forgot just how grossssss they are.

Ew.
To both the period graffiti, and to the period itself.

god...I just got over mine...the worst thing is knowing it's coming back. 2 weeks of freedom, and then the depression sets in...and then the bleeding.

I couldn't cope with pads. They're revolting. And they hurt worse on the outside than the tampons hurt on the inside.

pads are disgusting. I double up sometimes with a pad and a tampon cause I'm super paranoid about leakage, and its like wearing a diaper. Tampons are so much easier to ignore.

Yeah, I don't like pads generally. I just need these tiny tampons, anything else is really painful and I can't forget it because I can feel it inside me all day.  I'm really really small, it's not just a relaxation thing.

But yeah, I just don't feel like spending what little money I have on tampons right now.  It pisses me off too much. So I'm in free sample land.

During the two weeks that its not an issue I actually seem to forget it will even happen again.  And then it does.  It's such a crash.  I wish I could stay home for a few days and deal with it, but that's not possible right now.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I get a week, maybe two out of every month when I get to be sane. And then the depression sets in (ovulation) then the bleeding (pain.) Not cool, that's half my life being ruined by this s***. And it always comes back, on schedule.

Use pads, can't stand the idea of having anything in there, it disgusts me.

I feel your pain Elvis, although don't do that "blood graffiti." Not everyone else's fault.

I hope this question doesn't sound too dumb, but isn't there a way you can stop your periods indefinitely?
I only know of one way and that is by taking the Pill without the break and this causes the cessation of periods for as long as required. But because the Pill is tricking the body into thinking it is pregnant, this would probably interfere with taking T.
Just wondering if there is any other way besides having a full hysterectomy?

I guess someone has to be the devils advocate haha
but i prefer pads to tampons

i mean, discomfort/etc aside, just that one moment of  'inserting' it, just totally ruins it for me and is horrible all i can think of is my lack of proper male parts. just that one quick moment totally trumps seeing the pads everytime. i mean, the pads suck of course, less sanitary, gross seeing it everytime you have to take a leak, but at least i just see the blood and the pad, not my improper 'parts' down there. i mean the act of inserting anything is probably the worst dysphoria i can experience (you cant insert anything if its the right parts!) so tampons are a definitely no-no

also, im interested to see the answer to hermione01's question. also to add though i have one. what does T do, if anything, to periods? does it stop/slow it at all? i don't know how obvious an answer that is but i'm still trying to learn about all this.

Hermione - I can't take hormonal birth control because of the psych effects, but a lot of guys use it with good results. It's unnecessary when on T because T itself stops them.
