I transitioned in 2006 FtM.

Now in 2009 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

I was wondering is there a connection with my transition?

Not likely. But who knows.
I deal with a rather debilitating fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed years before my transition so I doubt it is brought on by trasnition.
Fibro can be hell. hell enough to have me pretty much disabled for the last 3 years.

I would sugest you talk to your doc about Lyrica. I was unable to function until I went on the stuff.

Lyrica did nothing to help me mind you, so don't expect miracles.

I have Fibro, had it for years. I can trace back my symptoms to teen years even.
I do believe, since Fibro is affected by stress, that being transgender can aggravate the symptoms or be a contributing factor.

I know that transitioning will be stressful for me, but I do believe that it will cause a reduction in the overall causes of stress (Getting rid of the parts that cause dysphoria for example) and as such should have a positive effect on my fibro, if it has any effect at all.

Lyrica has done little or nothing to help my diabetic neuropathy.  It works different for each person.

Miniar,
I have to take a coctail of morphiene and lyrica to mellow out the pain now. On just Lyrica I still had a ton of breakthrough pain. The morphiene helps one to forget they hurt. lol

I definatly can tell it is agravated by stress as I flair every time I get stressed. Then the flair trigers depression .... vicious stuff.

There are a couple of other drugs they have just recently started ussing for fibro but the names of them escape me. (just had a convo with my doctor last week about it)

This is so true.
The comon dose they insist on is 3x higher than what mostly works for me. I seem to be hyper sensitive to it. I can't function at high dosages, I get way to foggy and feeling grogy. Lyrica is very much a ymmv drug.
